Summary: I bought this juicer, and for the first week I loved it, I was using it about 4 times a day. On the 7th day I smelt burning, but thought perhaps it was from outside as I had the kitchen window open. The next day I was juicing and the smell returned, it was the machine. I took it back and got a full refund. I have since bought another juicer, and fingers crossed this is ok. At that price you would expect the motor to be able to cope, Philips need to look at this fault.
Summary: Unfortunately I ended up trying 2 of these juicers and we couldn't get either of them working. The locking mechanism was difficult to get in place and was of poor quality. Had to take both back for a refund after reading reviews that the motor is really poor on this model and was often conking out after a couple of weeks. Wouldn't recommend.
Summary: I should not of ignored other reviews about this products motor problem. The second week of use and a burning smell the third week and smoke pouring out as it continued it's premature self destruct. Nothing wrong with the product design and the daily use is easy, but the motor has serious issues. It doesn't seem to be under stress, in use, it just starts to smell and becomes worse. Returned and going for a different make. Philips need to address this problem soonest!
Summary: We've used our Avance HR1871 juicer almost every day since buying it two weeks ago - once per day to make two glasses of juice for breakfast. We have generally juiced apples pears and carrots and the results have been delicious, if a little frothy. The machine worked reasonably quietly and seemed to extract most of the available juice (the left-over pulp was always quite dry).
Summary: I was thrilled with this juicer when it arrived and continued to be so for around 7 days. Then it started to smoke and smell really bad and then stopped altogether. Amazon were great and sent me a replacement immediately. The second juicer has lasted about the same mount of time - it started smoking and stopped at the end of day 5 of Jason Vale's 5 day juice detox!!
Summary: My first one burnt out within 5 days and the replacement is on its way out. I juice once a day and after the first problem I am extremely careful. Now I have a routine of juicing I don not want to be without a juicer.
Summary: Recommended by Jason vale as THE juicer, so that is what I bought. It burnt out after two weeks. I live in Qatar so sending it back was not an opinion, so thinking that I had done something wrong, I finally found the same model here in Doha. That has burnt out after two/three weeks with. VERY careful use. Make your own judgement .
Summary: The first conked out after 2 weeks, the (now) usual reported burning smell, smoke and then stop scenario that you see loads of reports from other users. To be fair it was replaced by Amazon I have tried to treat the new on nicely but now the burning smell has started again so it will not be long until it packs in again. I have emailed Phillips customer support and hopefully they will have a proposal. This is not really good enough for a premium product.
