Beautiful speaker that sounds, for what it is, great. But I can't recommend them and it makes me question all Phillips products

Summary: The speaker part is beautifully made, solid feeling aluminum tweeter arm and beautiful black lacquered book enclosure. I really think the solid wood really helps the sound and is head and shoulders better than other airplay speakers. Philips spent some effort in building that part of the speaker. The BIG problem is they, at least it seems to me, really skimped on the electronics portion. I bought 2 pair.
Summary: The good news is these speakers sound absolutely fantastic. They have crisp clear top end, tight base response and really do create an impression of being surrounded by the sound. From a sound perspective I couldn't fault them. But now for the bad news. They are very very unreliable. The first pair lasted 4 months and then died with a red flashing light. This seems to be a common problem on the Philips support forum.
Summary: Firstly the quality of the speakers is excellent and that is why I will keep them. However setting up the airplay is awful and I have given up.The instructions are clear but the thing just does not work and life is just too short.Soooo I have paid over the odds for some good speakers that I just plug my iPod into.
