Beautiful speaker that sounds, for what it is, great. But I can't recommend them and it makes me question all Phillips products

Summary: The speaker part is beautifully made, solid feeling aluminum tweeter arm and beautiful black lacquered book enclosure. I really think the solid wood really helps the sound and is head and shoulders better than other airplay speakers. Philips spent some effort in building that part of the speaker. The BIG problem is they, at least it seems to me, really skimped on the electronics portion. I bought 2 pair.
Summary: These are beautifully crafted and stylish speakers. I have owned for just over 2 years and admired the sound and have put up with annoying dropout of the sound which we have correlated to operation of our Panasonic microwave in the next room. A week ago I noticed the speaker LED was blinking red (vs. steady green) so I turned the speakers off.
IMHO the best Airplay speakers on the market...highly under rated

Summary: I've searched all over for Airplay speakers to match my remodel. Tried the Bowers and Wilkens Zepplin and A7, Poineer (A series), Klipsch G-17, and even McIntosh McAire. The Philips 9800 look great and sound better (IMHO) than a single speaker putting out stereo sound especially at Amazon's discounted price. There's better separation and balance. I would rate this just above the Klipsch G-17 (4 stars) for sound. Note...
Summary: When it worked it worked well. Unfortunately it failed during warranty and was replaced. Second unit worked and alas......failed again, of course outside of warranty period. Told by Philips that nothing could be done. Product electronics are poorly made and I certainly would never consider buying again.
Quality does not match the look and price tag. DO NOT BUY IT FOR THE LOOK!

Summary: Only used for 6 months, then it got broken and even Philips Authorized Repair Center could not fix the speakers. It's a good looking with nice sound, but the quality does not match the look and price tag. Update: Sent the speakers to Philips authorized repair center, and the center could not repair it, and suggested to sent back to Manufacturer for warranty repair.
Knockout speaker with the best sound. Poorly designed and will die.

Summary: Absolutely breath taking sound. Like nothing you've ever heard or experienced even at low or full volume. After two months my lights on the back like so many others have just decided to turn to red which leads to reading forums and finding out there are huge issues with them. Then writing reviews like this and making people aware . There is a massive flaw in these lovely speakers they don't work and break on their own accord and once they break they are broken for good.
Summary: Nicely made, the sound quality is simply superb. No problems whit them thus far whatsoever, and I've been having them since March 2013. Sometimes I do encounter problems related to software rather than the speakers. The speakers so far didn't let me down one bit. And everybody loves the design.
Summary: This system is an Extreme balance between design and sound. I give this system My higeset rekommandations. It's easy to set up - and the finish of the product is also good. if you want quality this product is a good choice.
