The compact and elegant Logitech mm32 speaker set is both affordable and versatile. The $80 speakers not only serve the Apple iPod, but other MP3 players as well. They are well-designed, and even though there is a plastic adapter specifically for the iPod, in place of the usual iPod dock there is a slot for MP3 players of all kinds. Switches and buttons are on the front of the device, making them easily located and accessible. A nice carrying case is also included which fits the speakers and power adapter as well.

Although portable speakers sometimes sacrifice quality because of their size and portability, the Logitech mm32s sound good for the small size. Often bass and even mid tones are sacrificed for portability, but not with this model. Sound is clean on the Logitech mm32, with fair mids and not much bass. These speakers are designed for the traveler who wants more than a music player/headphone setup to enjoy tunes. However, the missing iPod dock makes using the iPod cumbersome and anchoring it with a dial is another process, not to mention pulling the cables through the back of the speaker unit because the connections are on the bottom. The battery life is okay for speakers—about 8 hours for 4 AA batteries.

All things considered, you have to ask yourself if the drawbacks and cumbersome operation of these speakers are worth paying $80 for. If it plays the music in a tone you prefer, you might want to buy them. If you like fuller sound, however, you may find the output on this unit annoying and find yourself turning them off after a short while. It all depends on how much you want to fiddle with your speakers and adjust your sound.
