JBL Radial Review

Digitaltrends
8 October 2006
  • Conclusion: This is yet another solid iPod dock from JBL. The Radial never fails to impress with its powerful sound and it can handle any genre of music thrown at it. At $299 it is a bit high for an iPod dock but the sound is well worth it if you have the money burning a hole in your pocket. Those of you looking for impressive sound at a lower cost could always check out the JBL OnStage II . Beautiful design and a nice remote add to the already impressive package of the Radial.
  • Pros: Great sounding; innovative design; remote control
  • Cons: Missing touch-sensitive controls; does not include iPod adapters; expensive

JBL Radial

  • Excerpt: This unit is fairly compact and the sound comes from all sides. You can change volume on the unit but to change tracks, etc. you need to use the remote or the iPod. It can’t run off batteries, making it less portable than some of the others. Sound quality is very good: full, clear and warm. On maximum volume, it is loud.

  • Summary: You'll pay a premium, but the Radial offers quality sound, an excellent remote control and a weird but attractive design. An excellent portable speaker system on the whole.
  • Pros: Great design, quality sound, charges and synchronises your iPod, works with any portable media player
  • Cons: Expensive, no bass or treble controls, can't run on batteries
