Summary: Long story short, consider yourself lucky to get one that works. I naively purchased a second one to use upstairs and one speaker doesn't work. I paid $6.50 is shipping to get a product that didn't work and I get to pay return shipping charges. So that is $13 for nothing. The first one we purchased didn't charge the IPhone. It was replaced with one that does work. Basically, I've learned my lesson the hard way.
Summary: The sound is good, but it is difficult to connect the Ipad. The connection is spring loaded, and leans toward the back of the unit. I would not recommend this item; if you intend on using it for an Ipad. My Ipod connects pretty easy. If you are going to use it for an Ipod, it is a good deal.
Summary: This item is not equipped with interference cancellation for phones. When you have it on the dock, and get calls or texts, it makes a very bad static in the speakers. Phone to speaker interference cancellation should have been one of the main features on this product.
Summary: It is extremely difficult to actually get the iPad into the dock because the connected is pointed too far backwards and you have to push the back backwards to get it in and it's soo complicated, it took me half an hour at a party to get the thing in the dock. Everyone tried but no one could do it. After numerous attempts I finally got it in. But the bottom of my iPad is scratched to hell. It's ridiculous how hard it is to put your iPad into this dock.
