Summary: I had the Sounddock for about a year when it began giving me problems. Played it about 20 times or twice a month (had it in the living room where we only occasionally listen to music). I called up Bose about the problem (clicking sound, no music) and was told I was out of warranty, and that I needed to send in/exchange for a new one. Cost? $200 more. Wow, $500 total for a sound dock in one year? Hmmmmmm.
Summary: This SoundDock system is the worse Apple iPod speaker accessory I've ever seen, and I've seen quite a few of them. Even the lady at the Bose store was wincing when I turned the volume just over the halfway mark, that's how bad they sounded. HOWEVER like all Bose products, these are very pretty. They look good. Nice compact and clean design. Yes. Very pretty.
Summary: Really unhappy with this purchase. Saw it and thought it looked like a really good purchase. But it arrived all wrapped up like my Mother had wrapped it. No box just a a bin liner and tape with bubble wrap! No remote with it. Phoned the guy up and he says straight away "the remote was in it when I wrapped it", funny that as I had hardly said anything, he must have an amazing memory.
Summary: In my mind Bose was a reputable make so I purchased this product. The sound quality was good and I was generally pleased with the product at first. However, after about 15 months the connections started playing up. Firstly the mains connection at the back would cut out. This could be rectified at least temporarily by disconnecting and reconnecting, though this happened with increasing frequency. Finally the docking mechanism itself periodically would not work.
Summary: There is a design fault with the bose sound dock as the speaker tilts back and is too heavy for the base where i pod is inserted. ours came away in the warranty period and was repaired. the same fault occurred outside warranty yet ours isn't moved around the house. It sits on the kitchen bench and is usually used as a docking station.
Pros: The sound is good, better than the logitech with inbuilt battery. However, we are on our second logitech portable and the first one only gave out because the power connection stopped working - it was 6 years old.
Cons: Poor design - as your writer said the connection between the heavy speaker and the base is flimsy from the word go. The sound is minimally better than other more robust products yet double the price
Summary: Quality is amazing! Sound is absoloutely fantastic! However...After about 8 - 9 months they just stopped playing...this was pretty pathetic considering I hadnt actually moved them from the very spot they were in since I bought them!! The ipod charges so is connected to the speakers just no music plays...Thankfully they came with a warranty and bose went off and fixed them for me although it took about 3 weeks!
Summary: sound quality is very poor. definitely not what you expect from a brand name like Bose. unless its my Ipod that has a problem. but i've read negative reviews about bose in the past, thot they would have improved it by now
Summary: Initially I gave this a five star review and I stand by this on sound quality and looks. However, and it is a big however, about 6 months in after moving it from my kitchen to my study, it began to stop playing. It would still charge so it was connected but it just would not play. After all the stuff the Troublshooting guideline failed, the last resort is to unplug it, leave it rest and then power it up again.
Summary: I am sure everyone has come across the wires which attach the ipod, or other mp3 players to a stereo via the headphone jack, I would agree that with this the sound quality is poor. However it is possible to buy very cheaply at maplins, and I am sure other shops a wire like this which attaches to the auxiliary input of your stereo via the bottom jack on the ipod, giving far superior sound, at a lower price, making the bose system redundent
