Summary: I have to admit that I was somewhat skeptical when I first heard about this product. I think Bang & Olufsen has developed a reputation for delivering high style, high price but so-so audio performance in the past 10 years. I've owned some B&O products in the past have been happy--but not blown away--with them. However, when I read the reviews of the Beolit 12, I decided to take the plunge and purchase it.
Summary: In rebuilding my environment after a recent move (that won't be my last), I'm attempting a bit of minimalism... i.e. my bookshelves all fold. After considering a few other portable speakers and soundbar systems, I impulse purchased the Beolit 12 at a brick-and-mortar store (marked down). I was assured the unit was brand new, though the box was scuffed. On returning home I unboxed... to discover that the power cable was missing (boo!).
Tried them all and this is the best with a few caveats.

Summary: Sound docks have been a hobby and an addiction for me. I have owned and used the following: original George, Harman Kardon Go Play, B&W Zeppelin, NAD Viso One, Arcam rCube, Marantz Consolette, and probably a few I have forgotten. I can state without hesitation that the Beolit 12 is absolutely the best sounding dock/speaker of any of these period. The amazing part is that it also the smallest.
Summary: I must say I'm disappointed in this product. The sound that comes out of this little box is amazing. However, the battery life of its internal battery isn't so good. It only lasts for an hour. After weeks of trying to charge and discharge the unit's battery, I came to a conclusion that I have a defective unit. I emailed the tech support, but no response yet. I'm gonna try to get an exchange from a local B&O store, but I'm not sure if they will do that.
Summary: I went through a bunch of different small audio solutions (Bose, Jambox, B&W), and all of them failed to compare in at least one major category compared to the Beolit. - Really great sound - Perfect size (and easy to carry) - Terrific WiFi performance for uninterrupted AirPlay use (B&W's Zeppelin Air drove us nuts, with its wifi often needing attention to reconnect before use) - Long battery life when you need to unplug This is not an inexpensive speaker, but in this...
Summary: Pros: 1. Although it can never replace your high end Hi-Fi home audio system (which is not the point of this system), it has one of the best sound quality on a portable speaker in the $1000 and below price range. (all my guests have commented on how they were surprised with the high quality of the sound this portable speaker can produce!) 2. It can get pretty loud even when played at outside. Great for outdoor events, as well as romantic dinners, camping, fishing, etc.

Summary: The Beolit 12 is an excellent item for the music lover who wants a very versatile, high quality, sound experience. The unit is easy to set up and allows the music lover to enjoy all of his/her music from any Apple Air-Play device over a local Wi-Fi network or a music device that can be plugged into the unit.
Summary: The Beolit 12 has worked liked a charm. The set up does take a few minutes-- it's not as easy as plug and play, but it has worked well ever since. I can stream music to it more reliably than to my Apple TV-- no drop outs or freezes. The sound is incredible. I use it to play music from a MacBook Air and several iPads using iTunes, Spotify and other apps. Great device.
Summary: As a long time bang and olufsen fanatic, it was always a bummer that there wasnt a way to take that sound with me when I travel. I travel quite a lot and having the ability for a sturdy bang and olufsen sound equipment on the go was amazing. The amount of sound that comes from this picnic basket is mind blowing. I also have the beosound 8 and the sound is almost identical. Great piece of equipment for the money.
