Summary: I was searching for a sound system to adapt to everyone in the family's iPods/iPhones so we could share our music in the kitchen and family room areas. Being old school, depth of sound and watts mattered! No tinny sound for me! This system met and exceeded all of my expectations. It sounds fantastic - and looks really cool, too! I would highly recommend this product for sound, looks, ease of use, and portability.
Summary: I was reading some of the 1 star comments, and many of them were regarding incompatibility issues with the iphone. I can't speak for the iphone 3g, but it works great with the 3gs. The remote controls the volume, tracks, etc without any problems. it does not ask me to go into airplane mode. Interestingly, it speakers charge my iphone much faster than when i plug it into my computer's usb port. Overall, i'm happy with the unit. It is simple and works.
Summary: This unit has great sound and overall seems to be very high quality, but I wanted to post a review so others don't run into the same issue I did. When removing my iPhone, something caught and the connector bent. Now I have to prop something against it for the audio/charging connection to work. Be gentle getting your iPhone or iPod on and off the unit.
Summary: Length:: 4:51 Mins The Altec Lansing 612 is a nice choice for a portable ipod stereo. As the video shows it will work with the Ipod Touch, Iphone, and Ipod classic (among others). Positives- - Works with all models of Ipods (but NOT the Shuffle). It is important to note that a plastic insert needs to be added for use with the Iphone (see video). Without using the insert you will get an error message on your Iphone.
Sounds nice, iPhone 3G issues, and weird power connector

Summary: This unit sounds pretty nice, if a little boomy, but this is barely noticeable. For it's size, it is heavy and stable on the table and I have no worries about it. If you are planning to wall-mount, be sure to consider the weight. As noted by others, I have had to order the iPhone 3G adapter from their web site, which is free but cost me $5 for shipping. Worse is that the adapter is currently back-ordered. Ugh.
Summary: If you need battery portability, get the LogiTech. If you just want a very good docking speaker system, get the Altec Lansing T612. Both work well with the iPhone 3G. You may get an occasional "Not meant to work with iPhone" message but it doesn't affect operation. Both have very good sound quality with the Altec Lansing seeming a little fuller to my ears. I think this is more of a preference thing.
Summary: Comments about Altec Lansing T612 Multimedia Speaker System: My question when I heard it was "where is the rest?" How such big sound comes from such a small unit? Only four stars because when I see the word system I think multiple speakers. And what the heck is transparent sound?
Summary: The Altec Lansing digital speaker indeed does work with the iphone even if when the iphone is first docked it states it doesn't. When it says would you like to turn on airplane mode simply push no and play your tunes. It will work fine. This quirk like has some thing to do with differences between the first and second iterations of the iphone itself. This is a good value for the price and its built to last and very rugged. Best of all it's one sale now.
Great Sound & nice user controls - Docking a little dodgy

Summary: This is only docking/speaker product explicitly designed for iPhone that is currently available. It has great sound, good user controls, and is still compact for portability. No trace of interference from the iPhone but the docking action is not very tight and I have to place a foam rubber spacer behind the iPhone to get a reliable connection. As long as you remember to use such a spacer the unit rocks.
