Summary: Purchased in August 2009, broke in September 2011. The connection where you plug in the iPod became "loose" over time, requiring wedging something between the iPod and speaker to tilt the iPod forward so that the connection would work. Became successively worse over time, requiring more and more bending. This has been going on for the past year or so. Today it finally broke completely. It was a nice player, just wish it were constructed to last longer.
Stopped working when iphone 3GS is upgraded to iphone 4.0 software

Summary: I bought this 7 months ago. It was working fine for iphone 3GS until i recently upgraded my iphone3GS to new software release of 4.0. It stopped working after that giving "not-supported" message on my iphone. Was not able to access the support OR able to find any information to fix this after that. I can no longer dock my iphone to the speaker. It's disappointing.
Summary: It simply quit working after about 2 years. What a disappointment! Up until then we were quite happy with it. But I won't be buying another Altec Lansing product. It may be old school, but I really think stuff should last longer than 2 years.
good sound but difficulty in getting to work with ipod touch 3rd generation

Summary: I was unable to dock the i-touch 3rd generation (which I bought the same day with i touch)on the docking station of Altec Lansing T612. The i-touch does not sit properly on the dock and I had to use speaker cable, that came with speaker, to connect to the Altec Lansing T612. The speaker cable that came with the Altec is too short. I was pleased with the sound quality. I wonder if there is any other attachment to make i touch to directly dock on to the speaker.
If it connects, it's fantastic. Otherwise, it sucks.

Summary: I have an iPhone 3GS, and loved this speaker at first. It's beautiful, and when the iPhone connected, it worked fantastically well. However, over time the iPhone would not consistently connect. If I pushed the iPhone down hard on the connector, it always connects, but as soon as I let go sometimes the iPhone disconnects. Over time this gets really annoying. It may do a better job of connecting with an iPod, I don't know. I do know I had to return it.
Summary: I bought this device for use with the Apple iPhone 3G. I would give this an even lower rating if I knew of a more viable alternative. The advertisement states clearly that this device, "Works with iPhone 3G." Pros: * This speaker system produces very good sound given its size. * Sturdy construction. * iPhone 3G Interference is nonexistence. * Smoothly transitions for incoming calls. The music fades out and the ringer is then heard through the speakers.
