Summary: I purchased one of these and after a while the Doc stopped working. I called Altec Lansing and was told the would not honor the warranty because it was not purchased from and authorized dealer. Be Aware!!!!!! I called many people but no luck. I will not longer purchase Altec Lansing products.
Summary: I purchased the Altec Lansing Model M812 wireless speaker system for a Christmas present for my wife from Amazon. The unit never would work properly. I followed the instructions exactly and had the transmitter/base within 20 feet of the speaker, unobstructed line of sight. The system would work for a minute or two and then loose sync. I tried all available channels. I am a ham radio operator, so I should know something about this sort of thing.
Summary: For $93 for Prime, this looked like a great deal to get a cheap Sonos like system. I bought two units despite the mixed reviews. I plugged in the unit and it worked for about 1 minute. Then the "No Sync" display came up. I am technically capable. I turned off ALL 802.11 wireless devices in my house. I manually set the RF signal as directed in the Altec manual. I tried to re-sync using the manual sync button on the dock. After about 30 minutes, I gave up.
Summary: The Unit sounded good when I first bought it but now never works. The Speaker unit and the docking unit never want to "SYNC". I read the manual, tried everything it said to correct to the problem to no avail. The manual said also if the volume is too high may not sync yet When working I had to turn it up higher or else couldn't hear it when in the next room which is an open kitchen next to the room unit was in. I feel like I threw $140 down the drain.
Summary: Yes it does play songs in your list but most of its functionalities can not be used with iPhone4. Warning after every time I use the dock was an additional annoyance. In my book, it adds to "does not work" period!
Summary: It seemed Altec had just what I wanted!!! I read the reviews and noticed users really praised the item or dissed it, with few in betweens. Now I know why. The first unit I ordered would not even power up, so I had Amazon send a replacement. It was there in two days, even before I sent the other unit back. I turned it on and it sounded great. I was really impressed. Then the bad news. The remote did not work.
Summary: this product was great for about a day, then it started turning the volume down by itself , the next time we tried to use we had a small problem getting it to sinc up with the receiver ,and when we finally did it keep going off and saying no sinc, even with the reciever right next to the speaker.now we r lucky if it ever sincs up with itself and doesnt work at all . it is getting sent back today.
Summary: After shopping for a portable/small iPod stereo system, I decided to give the 812 a chance being it was for such a good price. Now I know why. The sound is great. The design is nice, although very heavy. I knew that I would not be transporting this around the house after realizing there were a few parts to move. Once I set it up, the "NO SYNC" came up pretty much immediately. I tried all 3 different station, but no luck.
