Summary: What a great sounding radio! Unfortunate to the many who purchased it there is a defect internally that disconnects AC power and renders the box useless. Mine would not power up so I borrowed a friends cord (same model) and it was still dead.
Summary: Bought this boom box in December 2010. Worked great, sounded AWESOME -- loved it so much that I bought the newer version, the IMT810 for my son in November 2011 as a Christmas gift. As of today, both units crapped out.
Summary: I'm lowering my rating from 4 to 1 stars because the device no longer works and is essentially expensive garbage. I'm disappointed to say the least. After working for about a year and a half, the A/C power stopped functioning.
Summary: Purchased this from Amazon.com and received it on May 28, 2010. After only two weeks of use, the unit began to fail to power-on or play any audio (radio or recordings). What happened is I had the unit playing audio on battery power when I connected the AC adapter to wall socket and then connected to...
Summary: When the 25-cent jack for the AC adapter in the back of the boom box breaks -- and it will -- because it's a 25-cent part -- the boom box will NOT WORK with the AC plugged-in. You'll have to run it off EIGHT D-size BATTERIES -- and, while doing so, it will NOT RECHARGE the MP3 device, iPod, iPhone,...
Summary: We loved our Altec Lansing boom box, while it worked. After less than 1 year, the connection port for the AC cord failed. I contacted the company, and instead of fixing the port, and after a number of mistakes on their part, they did send us a complete replacement unit.
Summary: Bought an IMT800 in Jan.2011 and it lasted a couple of months before it went down with the same power supply/cord issue that many others have complained about. The first time we dealt with Altec's customer service it was good and they sent us an iMT800 replacement unit.
Summary: Three days after the warrantee was up, the unit stopped working with the power cord. Like many people that has had this issue, and I got no where with customer service. I read enough on forums to know Altec Lansing has to know they have a defective product.
Summary: Product broke 3 months after purchase after moderate use. I contacted customer service 3 times, and they responded with an automatic meaningless template and did nothing about it. Poor product quality and poor customer service. I would not recommend buying the product.
