Summary: I studied portable stereos for a long time, purchased others, including Bose, and returned them all. I’ve had this for 2 years now and now the running joke is that I am invited to a lot more parties now, and they always ask if I’m bringing the music. I use the rechargeable batteries when power is not available, which run at full volume for about 5 hours. I love the fact that it runs on standard easy to replace C batteries. It is a little louder plugged into the wall.

Summary: What a great sounding radio! Unfortunate to the many who purchased it there is a defect internally that disconnects AC power and renders the box useless. Mine would not power up so I borrowed a friends cord (same model) and it was still dead. That is when I went to Google and searched the model to see that everyone has this defect at about 14 - 16 months after purchase.
Summary: Picked this up because I liked the modern ghetto blaster look. Not totally authentic, but a good effort. Like the large carrying handles and that it can be run off batteries. The two aux points is perhaps the best feature. One I'm got plugged into a Mac Airport Express to play AirTunes from iPad and iPhone. The other I've a line mini plug that can be plugged into a TV, music device that doesn't beam over Apple AirTunes.
Summary: I purchased the Bose system and returned it since there were no controls of the bass and treble on the unit itself – only on the remote. Lose the remote and you are hosed! Tried this Altec Lansing and love the sound and it has more than treble and base and includes an equalizer the Bose system did not have. It also cost $150 less than the $340 Bose. Easy to work and set up and sounds great – as good as the Bose if not better.
Summary: I am very impressed with the quality of sound that comes out of this machine. I have had it for over a year and have never had an issue with its functionality. I use this as my central device for my music, video games and movies and am very pleased with the quality of sound from each of these uses.
Summary: Three days after the warrantee was up, the unit stopped working with the power cord. Like many people that has had this issue, and I got no where with customer service. I read enough on forums to know Altec Lansing has to know they have a defective product. I wll never buy another product from Altec Lansing!!!
Summary: Bought this boom box in December 2010. Worked great, sounded AWESOME -- loved it so much that I bought the newer version, the IMT810 for my son in November 2011 as a Christmas gift. As of today, both units crapped out. Same problem as everyone else is having -- the power does not come on, and it's not the power cord -- it's something faulty inside that cannot be fixed. The IMT800 is out of warranty because it's greater than 1year old by about only 8 months.

Summary: Altec Lansing inMotion MIX iMT800 Portable Digital Boom Box for iPhone and iPod UPDATE: August 2012 There's an issue with the circuitry powering these units which causes the AC power to fail after a while. There's even an Amazon discussion forum on this topic for this boombox. Altec sent me a new power supply, out of warranty. But this issue is internal to a circuit board where the wall adapter fails to power the unit. Yet battery power still works.
Summary: Product broke 3 months after purchase after moderate use. I contacted customer service 3 times, and they responded with an automatic meaningless template and did nothing about it. Poor product quality and poor customer service. I would not recommend buying the product.
