Summary: I dont know why people are saying this dock doesent work with the ipod touch 3rd gerneration it works fine with mine. The sound is great for its size and the recheargeable battery makes it perfect. I was surprised how loud it sounded when i crancked it all the way up. I would recommened this to anyone looking for great speaker for their ipod. The price is unbeatable!
Summary: I was looking for a portable speaker system for my iPhone. After doing a lot of reasearch I decieded to pull the trigger on buying this speaker system. I friend had an older version of the speakers so I knew the quality was where I wanted it to be. I had heard that it did/did not work with the iPhone 3G. When I got the speaker in I plugged it in to charge and docked my iPhone 3g. The dreaded "This accessory does not work with iPhone" message appeared.
Summary: I compared all the other systems in this class for my iphone, and the could not compete with this unit on sound quality. This is by far the best sound for the buck, this unit in my opinion is the second best (BOSE SOUNDDOCK is #1), but if you're not trying to spend so much, go with this one. The battery life is adecuate and will play for over 3 hrs with the volume at a decent level outside.
Summary: The speakers are a good buy overall. The radio sound is good and the unit is compact and very light. It charges your iPod if the speaker is plugged in. Overall good features, good sound and good value for the money.
Summary: I've owned this dock for two years, and while it was working, it was great. Well, it quit working, and after one very curt response from Altec Lansing customer support, I've heard nothing from them. So if you want a good speaker dock, and you don't anticipate needing any service from Altec Lansing, this would be a good buy. If you're the kind of buyer who appreciates good customer service, I would pass on this product.
Summary: ***** UPDATE: ***** It is July 2010. We bought this in April 2009. Yesterday all functionality stopped. The light shows up on the unit when it is plugged in, but it does not turn on. It will charge the iPods, but no longer plays music. The 1 year warranty has passed. I'd still recommend this product. My wife used it everyday. She carries it with her around the house. I would recommend getting the 2-year or 3-year extended warranty.
Summary: my room mate has the bose ipod station i can say the sound quality is close bose wins out a little but not 200 dollars worth plus the versitility of this system is great with the rechargable battery built in and the fm stereo you can pretty much take it anywhere with you.
Summary: Okay somewhat of an audiophile, Linn turntable, complete separates, amp, pre-amp, tuner, etc, M&K subwoofer, Celestron SLS6 speakers ...so i decide to buy this for my Ipod.....to listen in different rooms i work in. (yes, it is very portable). I listened to 2 different Bose systems, great sound, but my opinion they are not worth the $$$, other folks may differ. Besides the great sound, the design is simple, sleek and not a focal point when your eyes move around a room.
