  • Summary: Bought this unit a 1 1/2 yrs ago and loved it. Great sound and really rugged, I mean rugged! I've beat the crap out of it. I've hauled this thing on and off ships, thur airports and not to mention camping trips. Its been dropped, kicked, beer spilled on it. But its always kept going and then it just quit working on IPOD. It still works on FM and AUX but at sea or in the woods its worthless. Would I buy this agian yes and no.

Altec Lansing.....where are you?

  • Summary: I have purchased lots of products by Altec Lansing over the years. I have purchased 8 portable MP3 players. I own some and have given them as gifts too. I have bought six inMotion iM600 units. They have the largest amp in their class, digital quality FM tuner, remote, iPod docking/charging station, lithium ion battery, additional input. My complaints are that Altec has a new version that does not come with a sub-woofer output like the original version did.

  • Summary: I bought these speakers to replace my old Altec Lansing speakers that I had for my old iPod. When I got the iPod Touch I wanted to make sure the connector size was right, and I just wanted to upgrade anyway. I am really glad I stuck with Altec Lansing. They seem to have great products, and the speakers have surprisingly good sound quality.

  • Summary: 1) Works with 5th Generation Nano (see my pictures). Just remember the insert that came with it. Not that it won't work without the insert, but it won't dock as well 2) Sound quality is good, not Bose, but good for $100. Furthermore depends on the quality of your songs in your iPod 3) Dock fits well, I moved it around with the iPod and no connection problems 4) Radio pickup is relatively good 5) Easy to figure out how to use, easy to program stations into remote 6) The...

Loved it . . . at first

  • Summary: When I first got my im600 I was thrilled. It has great sound quality and stylish looks. Unfortunately I've had some problems it. I can only get the stereo to turn on with the remote. If the little remote gets lost then I won't be able to use it at all. The battery has never recharged so that was a real disappointment. I have to plug it in to use it and even then it won't charge my iPod. I've read a lot of good reviews about this product, so maybe I just got a lemon.

Bang for buck

  • Summary: I was looking for a portable speaker system for my iPhone. After doing a lot of reasearch I decieded to pull the trigger on buying this speaker system. I friend had an older version of the speakers so I knew the quality was where I wanted it to be. I had heard that it did/did not work with the iPhone 3G. When I got the speaker in I plugged it in to charge and docked my iPhone 3g. The dreaded "This accessory does not work with iPhone" message appeared.

Works well- why waste extra $ on a Bose system?

  • Summary: I have been looking for an iPod docking station for quite some time and was split between the Bose system and this one. While I was leaning towards the Bose for all the positive reviews, I just couldn't bring myself to shell out $350 for the portable model. For $100 I couldn't be happier with this unit. The battery seems to last forever, the sound is great, and it's a snap to use. Even my 4 year old has no problem using the remote.

Excellent for its price

  • Summary: I compared all the other systems in this class for my iphone, and the could not compete with this unit on sound quality. This is by far the best sound for the buck, this unit in my opinion is the second best (BOSE SOUNDDOCK is #1), but if you're not trying to spend so much, go with this one. The battery life is adecuate and will play for over 3 hrs with the volume at a decent level outside.

Defective from the start--will not charge/connect any iPod (Nano, Video, Touch)

John Dorman, Amazon
18 November 2009
  • Summary: I've had other Altec Lansing speaker products and have found them to be top-notch, including the inMotion products and stand-alone speakers. This product had problems within the first week. Even with the proper adapters, the iPod Nano and Touch simply don't work (charge or play) with this unit, and I can only get the video iPod to play if I physically hold the iPod in the unit "just right".
