Altec Lansing iM600
Summary: Altec Lansing has been in the iPod speaker market longer than anyone, and it shows. The inclusion of a rechargeable battery and an FM radio makes the iM600 incredibly versatile.
Pros: Altec Lansing's iM600 speaker system offers a compact design, great sound, video output, auxiliary input, remote control, FM radio, and a rechargeable battery rated at seven hours of continuous playback.
Cons: The iM600 does not secure your iPod from falling out; its alarm clock feature only works with the iPod; the rechargeable battery is not removable; and the FM radio band is wider than necessary.
Summary: The Altec Lansing iM600 is priced at Rs 7,500. It's a tad costlier than we'd like it to be, but the functionality, flexibility and performance that it offers is hard to come by in such a product, especially in the Indian market.
Altec Lansing IM600 Portable Audio System for iPod
23 April 2008
Summary: Sound Quality
I was very impressed by the sound quality, especially from such a small device. Highs are crisp and lows are well-defined. The iM600 sounds great right out of the box, which is a good thing because Altec Lansing did not include an equalizer. The user can use the equalizer built-into the iPod, but this doesn’t help with radio play. The SFX button enhances the stereo sound, but the effect is subtle enough to be left on most of the time.
Excerpt: (1 items) Ever since we reviewed Logitech’s mm50 back in August 2005, it’s been our favorite portable iPod speaker system. Thanks to a good set of features, an attractive and functional design, reasonable portability, and better-than-expected sound quality, the mm50 was (and remains) a great value; although we’ve seen many other portable speaker systems since then, none has matched the mm50 at sweet spot of $150.
Pros: Infrared remote control with excellent range, Rechargeable battery, Syncs with computer, Very good sound quality for the size, Solid FM tuner, Radio tunes from 76.0 to 108.0
Cons: Doesn’t automatically turn off iPod, FM radio doesn’t have region-specific modes, so you have to tune through all frequencies, Battery life not as good as that of many other portable iPod speakers, No carrying case or pouch
Lautsprechersystem nicht nur für iPods: Altec Lansing inMotion iM600

Summary: Der Hersteller Altec Lansing ist ein alter Hase auf dem iPod-Lautsprechermarkt. Das macht sich auch beim iM600 bemerkbar. Aufladbarer Akku, UKW-Radio und ein separater Audio-Eingang machen das System universal einsetzbar. Für den Einsatz unterwegs gibt es allerdings bessere Alternativen.
