Better for iPod, not as good for other models

MKM, Amazon
2 October 2010
  • Summary: Was disappointed the product requires an additional cord, not included, to play non-iPod MP3 players (Sandisk, etc), whereas it has a dock/adapter for certain Apple models only. Otherwise the sound, size, design and price are good. Would like to see a model that is compatible with non-Apple players, and also that charges rather than using the mp3 player battery.

Good sound, poor controls

Amazon Customer "Chet Brewer", Amazon
3 March 2010
  • Summary: Altec Lansing has the best sound for docks for the price generally. The sound from this unit is acceptable. The volume rheostat is too insensitive and it is tough to adjust the sound in any reasonable increment. The unit folds up well for travel. I have not used it with batteries so I can't rate this. It travels well, but is a little large for carryon luggage. Better for a bedroom or office then for travel.

Good Price for Same Value Sound

Overstock
3 March 2010
  • Summary: This product came at a very good price and size from a manufacturer with a good reputation so that's why I chose it. It is indeed a great size, very easy to use with my iPod Touch. I have used it in battery mode for about 3 hours and it hasn't run out, so I cannot yet report on battery life. My main complaint is that it really is pretty terrible sound. I'm not a stereo or headphone expert, never have a preference.

Not the best choice

Adam Helberg, Amazon
27 August 2009
  • Summary: I got this to use with my iPod Nano 4G for home and travel. It's much larger and heavier than expected. I like to listen to podcasts and need something I can move around the house. The pros of this are: 1. it has pleasant sound for spoken word programs 2. the analog volume control is user friendly, but analog volume controls tend to develop static over time 3. it's incredibly efficient on 3 AA batteries.

Altec iM310 Review

Les M. Bateman "Les Bateman", Amazon
16 March 2009
  • Summary: The Altec iM310 is a larger than other "portable" iPod players; if you're planning on packing this for trips this would definitely be a consideration. The major downside of this unit is that the external power supply unit is very large; the iM310 provides no place to store this power supply internally so it becomes yet another item to pack and / or lose. Another annoying issue is that when you put the iPod adaptor in place it is (almost) impossible to get it out.
