iHome iP4 Portable FM Stereo Boombox Review

The Gadgeteer
2 March 2012
  • Conclusion: The IP4 can rock out a bedroom or small living room with no problem. It’s no Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin, but it was never meant to be. What the IP4 is, is a reasonably priced, impossibly retro-looking portable throwback to the glory days of street boom boxes.
  • Pros: "Love it" retro design, Pivoting dock connector, Decent sound, SRS digital signal processing built in, Convenient handle and strap
  • Cons: "Hate it" retro design, Weak FM, Bass just OK

iHome iP4 Review

  • Conclusion: iHome did itself proud with the iP4. Not only is this retro-styled boombox one of the better efforts at bringing back the feel of the ‘80’s (for those of us who care to remember), it also happens to sound pretty darn good, too.
  • Pros: Totally retro styling, Best sound from iHome yet, Five-band graphic EQ and SRS sound boost, Magnetic remote
  • Cons: No FM presets, Requires healthy adjustments to sound good
