Summary: Summary: A comprehensive iPod and GoGear dock and alarm clock that has good quality sound for both radio and iPod but an interface and buttons that let down the excellent functions. iPod Function: It's an iPod dock (or Philips GoGear for which there is special dock attachment that needs to be swapped with the iPod one that is already inserted) which comes with a multitudes of different dock adapters (all of which are marked underneath so you know which one to choose).
Summary: I needed an alarm with an ipod dock for my bedside table. As such, I wanted something that would produce a nice sound and have a small footprint, alarm clock and radio and be inexpensive. I did a ton of research both online and offline. After testing a number of IPod alarm clocks for mediocre brands like IHome and Iluv, etc. I was unimpressed by their brassy flat sound and incredibly flimsy design.
Summary: It is verry easy to set up, you just open it and it is allmost ready to go. You have to take out the ipod dock(if you have GoGear) find witch one fits snap it in plug in the powercord turn it on and your done. The only thing I could not figuer out was how to set the time. but other than that I was perfect. I would recommend this product to anyone who has an Ipod or GoGear.
Summary: If you are buying this as an alarm clock, stop now. This thing will blow your ears out before you even wake up. It's gentle wake takes literally two seconds to go from barely audible to absurdly loud. I have woken up just before the alarm goes off to experience this phenomenon. That being said if you are looking for a clock attached to an iPod dock, you can't do better for this price.
Summary: My husband got us a JBL on-time for the baby's room when he was born. We're big JBL fans for sound quality, but this one started dying within weeks, the screen would scramble for no reason. Finally in 6 months the screen completely died. So while we were waiting for warrantee service I purchased the phillips as stop gap. This is a nicely machine for the price.
Summary: I purchased this unit thinking that it also included a CD player but that's not the case. According to the helpful folks at Philips, the "CD" has been misinterpreted by Amazon. The unit is considered a "compact device." Also, the display is not as pictured. Instead of the black on green, it's black on gray, which is very difficult to see. Also, the display is unbelievably bright.
Summary: We just purchased this model, slightly better than the previous model as this years model aj300d/79 has solid numeric digits for the display rather than the silly dot-matrix display they had last year. The sound is great, but now having just tested the alarm and discovered the "gentle wakeup" feature, I'm amazed that this product got out of the factory. The designers must have been deaf.
Pros: Great sound, good interface with iPod
Cons: NO VOLUME CONTROL ON ALARM. Come on Philips, fix this, this is not an acceptable design decision. This is a single flaw that could sway many peoples decision on buying this product or not.
