They die after 2-3 years (maybe due to OS being installed?)

Summary: I've had 2 or 3 of these drives die in a span of 2-3 years each. They're way higher in temp than my 500GB Samsung drive that never died (37C compared to 30C). I'm wondering if it's because I use the Samsung only for data and not the OS.
Pros: - Not sure if there are any
Cons: - Too hot - Had a few die in the same amount of time
Summary: -Some hard drives last longer than others, some may last for 20 years while others of the same model may last only 1 year, this is one of the special ones as in doing tests it was found to be in very good health.
Pros: -Very good performance for its age, mine being 8 years old.
Cons: -Mine is a bit noisy, but it's an old hard drive, its not going to be silent.
Summary: I bought my first "special edition" 80gb 800JB in early 2002! This hard drive is STILL GOING STRONG TODAY - 13 years later. I installed probably 30 of these in various computers over the years... primarily until 2005.
Pros: Extremely fast (for an IDE), ultra reliable... runs cool...
