Solid performer!!

Duane G. Jacobs, Amazon
16 April 2013
  • Summary: I needed a good and fast boot drive for a client. I found this on other websites, but Amazon had a better price. I installed the OS on my client's PC and this little gem is doing the job nicely. I highly recommend WD to everyone. I have been using their drives for over 25 years.

Not even good as a paperweight

C.E. Martin, Amazon
6 February 2013
  • Summary: So I was given a desktop that was a couple years old and missing a few bits n pieces. Decided to rebuild it for the kids. Ordered this HDD for what seemed like a great price. Doesn't work. A complete brick. Worse, since it has no rubber anti skid feet, I can't even use it as a paperweight.

Solid Performance

Brian D., Newegg
14 January 2012
  • Pros: Got this about 6 to 8 months ago for a server I was building. It has since been running 24/7 since I built it and the drive just keeps on going. For the price and speed I am very happy with the drive.
  • Cons: None

Great

connor h., Newegg

  • Summary: I need minimal storage space for a Bitcoin rig, so these worked out very well. Luckily I got them before the flooding got to the drive companies and shot up the prices.
  • Pros: Solid drives, I use ten for some Bitcoin mining rigs, none were DOA, and all are still running after 10 months of 24/7 use.
  • Cons: Can't think of any

Good drive, but INSANE price

David B., Newegg
12 November 2011
  • Summary: I'd probably wait on buying any HDD until the problems in Thailand are sorted out.
  • Pros: It a good, reliable drive that *used* to be cheap.
  • Cons: The price has more than doubled from a couple years ago when I bought a few of these drives. Apparently this is due to flooding in Thailand, the major world supplier of HDDs.

Perfect For Raid 0 Setup !

Daniel L., Newegg
31 October 2011
  • Summary: Yes, Raid 0 is very fast, however, be advised that if only one drive crash, everything's lost. Here I have an external "NAS" server (QNAP TS-210) running 2 drives in Raid 1 (mirror), and that's where to put all my important data.
  • Pros: Even if these drives are "old" and very small, they're cheap ($36.99) and perfect for building a small Raid system. I have three (3) of them here in Raid 0 (total = 240 GB) and the overall performance of my PC is A LOT faster than using a single drive of the same (or bigger) size.
  • Cons: None.
