This was really "OEM"

Kevin, Amazon
23 March 2013
  • Summary: I bought two of these to replace a failed drive in a Windows Home Server and to RAID my desktop system. I was surprised that they were branded as "DELL". Evidently it's not uncommon for systems integrators to have these unused as the next generation comes out so they sell the prior generation. Don't get me wrong, these were new drives and server level devices. I got really good drive at a very reasonable price.

Great Drive

Johan Attali, Amazon
27 June 2012
  • Summary: Got two of this drives, stripped in RAID 0 for higher performances using Photoshop and Lightroom. It's blazing fast once correctly partionned (keep in mind the scratch size can become quite large when dealing with larges/many files on CS4) I recommend you read DIGGLOYD's blog ([...]) before purchasing so that you know what you'll be dealing with.

Good product, but test it out as soon as you recieve it

Catalyst God, Amazon
27 June 2012
  • Summary: So, I bought 3 of these recently for a RAID-0 in my Tyan S2915-E MoBo, and I would constantly keep getting errors in Nvidia Mediashied saying that the array was going to fail soon. Long story short, the problem was from both ends, the NVidia driver on XP X64 and one of the disks being bad. one think I'll tell right now is that You absolutely must run the WD test utility to ensure the health of the drives as soon as you recieve them to avoid any confusion.

Storite falsely advertized as WD re3 with 5 year warranty: BAIT & SWITCH!

Mocha Mom "Family of AVID readers", Amazon
30 April 2012
  • Summary: The drives they shipped me were not the advertised drive. They are Dell branded with NO WARRANTY from either Dell or Western Digital. I spent considerable time trying to register these drives with both Dell and Western Digital and the drives were rejected as NOT IN WARRANTY by both companies. Of course the seller knew this but chose to falsely advertise them as Western Digital re3 drives with 5 year warranty even using stock advertising for the Western Digital drive.

WD 1T RE3 HD works great in RAID configuration

Bob Sincick, Amazon
30 April 2012
  • Summary: I bought 5 units of the 1T RE3 drive for a RAID-5 set. Works great. Less heat than the black drives it replaced. The RE3 is better suited to RAID applications than standard drives which can drop off the raid set unexpectedly.

NO WARRANTY

James Burnett, Amazon
30 April 2012
  • Summary: I got this drive quickly, and it took a format OK. I tried to register it with WD and it does not have *any* warranty. The vendor here states that this drive has a 5-year warranty. Not so.

WD Excellence

Computer User, Amazon
30 April 2012
  • Summary: This 1 TB hard drive performs like all other Western Digital hard drives that I've purchased in the past: Excellent! The 32MB of embedded buffer, along with it's capacity, speed, and reliability -- clearly made it a valuable upgrade. This hard drive also spins very quietly.

Updated: response from seller: Dell labeled drives with NO WARRANTY!

plusco, Amazon
30 April 2012
  • Summary: Dell labeled drives with NO WARRANTY! False advertising! They may have had 5 years when they were originally OEM, but they are obviously beyond the 5 years. -------------- Hello buyer. I apologize for the inconvenience. We are a third party vendor and we receive large shipments from manufacturers and some of the drives we receive are new and some are re-certified. We must have mistakenly sent you a re-certified drive.
