Pros: What can I say back then when I purchased this HDD "2008" it was one of the fastest hard drives you could buy under the raptors. I still use it in my main system which is also from 2008.. I just recently purchased 1200$ in parts so I will soon only use this HDD as a backup/storage for pictures an...
Cons: no cons, except its slightly outdated in todays terms
Summary: Replaced a Samsung drive in a RAID-1 configuration, took less than 4 hours to complete the RAID-1 transfer and synchronization of files. The system I have came with two Samsung drives, the first one failed in less than a year and was replaced under warranty with a Western Digital drive.
Summary: Western Digital and HGST are the companies to beat in mechanical storage.
Pros: Power on hours currently at 59980; almost time for the 60k party. That's nearly 7 years of 24/7 uninterrupted service; three system rebuilds, including a SFF that was shipped around the US multiple times in less than ... ideal conditions. Probably the longest running piece of computer hardware th...
Summary: They don't make them like they used too. Since I bought these, over the years I've probably returned a sixth of the hard drives I've bought due to failures **cough** seagate **cough** Also, I paid about ninety dollars eight years ago for one of these.
Pros: I bought three of these almost eight years ago. Since then all three have about 35,000 power_on_hours. One developed some bad sectors a couple years ago but after a reformat is still usable. I am using that one as a secondary backup. The other two are all good.
Cons: I seem to remember having to flash the firmware in order to get these to run in RAID. Wasn't a problem though.
