  • Summary: Good storage drive for a gaming rig. I use it paired with a 120gb ssd boot drive.
  • Pros: Very very fast for a conventional drive. I use as a storage drive. Hasnt failed or made any wierd noises yet. Price was right
  • Cons: A little noisy, but not nearly enough to be annoying

  • Pros: Decent drive. Using it as a backup to a SSD. Haven't gotten much of a chance to mess around with the clock speeds on it to see how fast it loads date compared to a SSD. Have no complaints with the set up of the drive and WD has never failed me before!
  • Cons: None.

Buy for size not speed

Dale H., Newegg
10 April 2013
  • Summary: SSD has come a long way in the aspect of storage value. For larger needs, SSD is not there for the recreational user like myself, this is where the WD VoliciRaptor comes in
  • Pros: Larger capacity drive, excellent Raptor reputation, good speed/capacity value.
  • Cons: Stream and response speed is less than 1/2 that of a SSD, then again, so is cost per meg/gig

Finally Got One.

Anthony S., Newegg
25 March 2013
  • Summary: I went from two WDC2503ABYX drives in RAID0 to this... Speeds about the same although I got 6.0 WEI with the old setup on an AM3+ 990FX mobo. The increase in noise is the only negative. When this thing is working, it makes an annoying sound when its reading/writing... It's not the spindle...
  • Pros: Amazing Specifications!
  • Cons: Read-Write Activity Noise!!!

4 out of 5 Eggs

Hunter J., Newegg
26 February 2013
  • Summary: Because of this problem i just decided to sent it back and get a refund. First time I've ever had an issue with a Western Digital HDD! But you can't win them all lol.
  • Pros: A high performance HDD that's a bit cheaper then any SSD's out there of course! Surprised by how much smaller it is also.
  • Cons: The HDD doesn't preform in the manner that it should. Difficultly installing Windows 7 Professional 64-bit; made over 11 attempts to install till finally able to do so. Slow/sluggish response time (delay between 20 sec-1 minute) on opening applications of any kind. Ran both Western Digital Data L...

Suprisingly quiet!

Robert M., Newegg
18 January 2013
  • Summary: Got this hard drive as a secondary drive to my solid state to hold extra games and random files that dont require solid state speeds and does the job exceedingly well
  • Pros: Very cool looking with the included adapter/heatsink hard drive mount since the drive is originally a 2.5 inch drive. Very quiet even under full load. performs very fast for a hard drive. Decent amount of space per price quota got it when it was onsale
  • Cons: I think the only one is that it isnt a solid state.

Excellent performance, if you get a good one

Matthew B., Newegg
9 January 2013
  • Summary: When you get it, make sure you run A LOT of tests before putting into normal use.
  • Pros: Outperforms my previous generation SATA2 VelociRaptor.
  • Cons: First one I got crashed within about a month. WD's RMA process gave me one that has lasted several months so far.
