Summary: I bought 2 of these back in October of 2011 and they never really seemed to have the performance they were supposed to. Well one finally failed and when I contacted Western Digital, I was told they are not real WD drive but a counterfeit. I sure hope Amazon stands behind their products..
Summary: Like many others, I have been severely disappointed in this drive (Velociraptor 600 GB SATA III 32 MB Cache). Specifically: 1) High performance is attained only with certain controllers. This is very unlike other SATA III hard disk drives. Most hard drives perform about the same regardless of controller. In some systems the Velociraptor is very fast; meaning noticeably better than a 7200 RPM hard drive (but never close to an SSD).
Summary: I purchased one of these 6 months ago and it works fine. I decied to buy 2 more to add extra space and redundancy. Both new drives died within 24hours. One drive has a mechanical issue (no longer spins up) the other seems to be a electrical issue (BIOS will not recognize the drive on known good SATA ports.) The original drive still works fine but only 1 drive out of 3 working means I will not buy a drive out of this series again.
Summary: At first all was good with the drive. But when it started having problems I contacted Western Digital for an RMA, only to discover the drive was a fake and not manufactured by WD. I never tested the performance, but the firmware and the case looked correct. What a shock it was a fake! I requested resolution from Electronica Direct, but choose to take Amazon's resolution (payed a restocking fee). So, in the end Amazon came through for me.
Summary: The drive worked well enough for install so all of the software was activated and running. Then after about 3 weeks, the drive started slowly losing integrity with more and more data getting corrupted. I was able to salvage most of the data; however, this kind of failure should never happen on a drive with specs that quote a very high MTBF.
Just received a new one to replace the "Clicker" I got last week. Turns out the new one is a "Clicker" too.

Summary: There was another review that had a bad drive as well in June 2011. It is most likely a bad batch of 600GB Raptors or they came from a case that was dropped. Amazon, Western Digital and Electronics Direct are good companies and will take care of this issue. I normally do not write something unless there is a reason. I will be buying another one from a different vendor. If there are issues with that one, I will post an update. I have been in IT for over 25 years.
