Summary: I installed this after 30 days from NG, so I couldn't return it. The RMA process from WD is pretty painless. They have a pretty cool UPS label system (on my dime) that only cost me $7.00 Yes...I know I'll get a refurbished HD, but my finders are crossed.
Pros: Well...It was bound to happen. I have purchased 10+ WD Black HD's over the years & it finally happened. DOA on a new install for a friend of mine. I'm still a hardcore WD Black "fanboy" The BEST HD other then SS drive, bar none!
Cons: Failed. It happens. Better then Seagate or Hitachi my friends!
Summary: I bought 2 of these drives back in 2010. Well, the SATA2 versions to be honest. At first, I bought them to create a RAID1 volume on my motherboard, but the RAID software was so glitchy that I decided to drop the ball on RAID1.
Pros: Very good performances, Quiet, 5 years warranty
Summary: It's a bit on the loud side, which is why I held back 5 out of 5. Still a great and probably fastest alternative to an SSD of equal size. If you can find this on sale, grab it up. Make sure you get the 64mb cache model.
Pros: Faster than any 7200rpm I've ever owned. 64mb cache Cheaper than 500gb SSDs Runs cool, zero heat issues or worries with it.
Cons: Loud. Louder than most mechanical drives. Still not as fast as an SSD, but we all know that.
Pros: After all the reviews about DOAs, I really hesitated to buy this one. But the 5 year warranty, and the reputation for dependability on the WD Black series, made it easier to bite the bullet and dive in. Not so much money for it, so that sure helped. But I have to say, I was braced for a failure. ...
