Good 3.5 INCH DESKTOP HARD DRIVE
a Customer, Amazon
19 October 2014
Summary: Had one of these for about a year and half now, it's western digital - fast and reliable. It's been in and out of more than one computer too. It came with a 5 year warrenty, I got my at eBay though so unsure whether that will be the same if you purchase from amazon, I think so though. The five year warranty just goes to show how much faith they have in this product.
Summary: I use Western Digital Black drives almost exclusively. I've been using them for over fifteen years. The biggest selling point is that they come with a 5 year manufacturer's warranty. Also they spin at 7200 rpm and have large caches. When you get your drive, you can go to Seagate's warranty site to check the warranty and be sure you have the five years.
Summary: I bought 2 of these drives back in 2010. Well, the SATA2 versions to be honest. At first, I bought them to create a RAID1 volume on my motherboard, but the RAID software was so glitchy that I decided to drop the ball on RAID1. About 1 1/2 year after I bought them, one of the drive was having bad sectors issues. Because these drives are 5 years warranty, I contacted WD and got my RMA very quickly.
Pros: Very good performances, Quiet, 5 years warranty
Summary: Pros: Decently fast, easy to set up, and affordable. Cons: Nothing If you can pick this up for a decent price, I recommend it. I have both a 500gb and a 2tb WD black and both have worked well for nearly 2 years now.
Summary: This has to be one of the best non-ssd drives on the market today. I use mine to back up another WD drive and it has worked flawlessly taking a it of bit of abuse along the way. The warranty id amazing in these days of one year warranties as it has a 5 year warranty. It is rock solid. I do not plan on going the ssd route anytime soon, or until the prices come down some more and these drives have given me the reliability I need so I do not have to look else where.
Summary: This is an excellent & fast hard drive. I had no trouble setting up this hard drive for use, but no utilities came with it. I used software utilities from a recently bought external USB Western Digital 2TB hard drive, that were resident on the hard drive itself. I used one of the utilities, in order to create a cd-rom bootup disk of WD utilities, in order to set up the hard drive.
Summary: I was pleased that my trust in WD Black drives was confirmed when all went well with this 500GB. All is fine. I tried RAID-1 but my other 500GB was no-go. Time to RMA that one, also an older WD Black. 5 Years Warranty. Can't beat it. Still great drives.
