Mixed results

Wilbur M., Newegg
23 October 2013
  • Pros: Inexpensive storage.
  • Cons: Bought two, one failed after initializing. Newegg return process is painless! Best in the business. Refurb drives are nice to have on hand to get a computer back up and running in a hurry. For systems requiring higher levels of reliability you might consider a retail drive, but I have had good re...

Gets the job done

Zachary H., Newegg
12 September 2013
  • Summary: I bought this to use in an enclosure as an external backup drive for storing about 300 GB of media on. Someday I will probably remove it from the enclosure and put it in a media server when I get around to building it. So far, it has performed as well as expected. No complaints.
  • Pros: Cost-effective high-capacity drive for storage.
  • Cons: Only 5400 RPM.

Good Drive

Anthony W., Newegg
15 May 2012
  • Summary: Installed in my laptop Vostro 3300(dell). My first 4k sector alignment HD, not a bad indeed.
  • Pros: Half a Terabyte, I can run Win7 plus 3 other of my favorite linux distros and still have ample room for storage. 4k sector manual partition went without a hitch. No noticeable speed loss compared to the WD Scorpio Black HD. Runs a tad cooler than Scorpio. Very economically priced.
  • Cons: Still runs too hot.

really good while it worked.

Brandon T., Newegg
24 March 2011
  • Summary: I have had this drive in an EEE 904HD for over a year and it worked out amazing. I just wish it lasted longer.
  • Pros: Fast Cool Solid, until it failed.
  • Cons: After more then a year, I started getting BSOD's whenever i coppied anything over a gig or so to it. I thought it was windows so i went to reinstal and it wouldn't make it past 10%.

WD Fixed

Anonymous, Newegg
16 March 2011
  • Summary: For now, perhaps stick to the normal Drives (non Advanced Format). Bought a notebook hard drive to go into external enclosure for backups. It was my way of getting a green drive without actually going with the "Green" series.
  • Pros: + The new drive from WD Advanced Replace survived 6+ hours of torture tests.
  • Cons: - Will it hold up over time? - Based on reviews it's slightly slower the similar Non Advanced Format drive.

Good Price lower power consumption

Jamieson P., Newegg
1 February 2011
  • Pros: Newegg price and service. It's a solid drive at a solid price point. Lower power consumption that a lot of drives. Good size to performance combo for most laptops that are not needing gaming class speed.
  • Cons: Can not think of any offhand.
