Summary: This is considered a green drive, no issues encountered in installation. Has good speed 7200 RPM and is quiet. 16 MB buffer This is a great drive for internal installation or to put into an external Harddrive enclosure to connect with usb.
Pros: Worked on a sytem for a friend - HD was toast - looked up the "service tag" info on Dells website - found what they used in the system (i also had the old HD for that info)..got this because the Cache: 32MB - reviews were good.. and Dell uses WD, so no worries with odd issues and the hardware would be the same.. this hooked up GREAT.. no issues.. loved it -- less then Tiger direct.. saved some $ on getting the "bare" drive.
Cons: hate the dell case -- but that has nothing to do with the HD.. No cons on this yet!
Pros: One of the few drives with a five star rating of over 80% Very, very quiet and more than fast enough; on Vista's scale it is 5.9 out of 5.9 (I know W7 has been out since Oct 2009 but I have a spare Vista O.S.). If cool and quiet is an indication of long life, this one will outlast me.
Cons: None it is as quiet and cool or cooler than my Samsung drives which are my other choice for long life.
Pros: Great price for some quality hardware. These drives (I bought 4) run very cool, and are very quiet as well.
Cons: Not really a con, but the packaging. Keep in mind, that this is a BARE DRIVE and doesn't include proper packaging other than the antistatic bags, and no documentation either (not that it's needed). The 4 I ordered were in a styrofoam caddy surrounded in bubble wrap and styrofoam popcorn.
Pros: Using this in an external enclosure with my Tivo. Previous Seagate driver failed after a 2 years. I thought a 2 year lifetime was fine. But the Seagate always made some noise. My wife complained that when the system was off the Seagate drive was clicking all the time.
