Great drive, but packed by an idiot

Summary: Bought yet another pair of these for general backup use (we like this drive a lot - as a drive it is great) and as noted by others, this is just a naked OEM drive. But this time the two drives arrived in a huge 2 foot long box with a light bit of packing and, having been tossed about in shipping, the anti static envelopes are covered with dimple marks from the impacts of the rough handling.
Summary: I ordered this to upgrade my imac G5 160GB stock hard drive. I wasn't sure if it would be compatible as a replacement for the Caviar but it is. The SATA plugs fit just fine. I would recommend this if you are looking for an upgrade to your existing western digital drive.
Pros: value per capacity, it is a cheap drive for the capacity since it came out and still keeps that adavantage
Cons: once you use it a while you'll start to notice a degradation in access speed, then it starts increasing it's operating temperature, and finally it starts failing. after a while failures become a regular thing of the day and you'll start to reboot more an
Summary: I bought 2 of these drives to replace my 4 years old drives. They seem to be faster and a lot quieter than the old drives. The performance seems much better too. They came with a decent generic package with proper protection. they came bare ( no jumper or SATA data/power cable).
Summary: I just got this so i cant say anything about it's durability. I did format it and install windows and it works fine. But the packaging is keeping this from a 5 star item. Box wasnt taped up, and only thing keeping it from shaking in the box is a few cardboard like grooves. I was concerned it might be broken. Hopefully it doesnt brake down on me like other reviewers say.
Summary: This drive is a bang for the buck! I just plugged it into my computer and the motherboard detected it immedately.Install Windows 7 on this hardrive was a breeze.I would reccommend this drive to everyone. *hint* This is an oem drive,so be expected to not get a included sata cable and screws. The other thing that i didnt like about was how my hardrive was packed.Their was one airbag in their in a cardboard box, but it worked fine.
Summary: If you get a "Hardware Initiate Failed!" comment with this HDD, your computer is only SATA 1.0 compatible and you must jumper pins 5 and 6 to revert the HDD to 1.0(second pair of pins from the SATA connector). Since this is an 'OEM' item devoid of instructions and the like, I had no way to know this and thought it was DOA. So, I ordered a replacement. When the second one also came DOA, I knew it couldn't be the HDD's.
