Summary: I have this drive as main system drive in my XP Pro Dell Dimension 8200 since 31Jan09 (2 years) working almost 24/7. I recommend this drive, I'd purchase it again, but remember as with any other drive to do regular backups in case you run out of good luck!
Pros: Stable drive, not loud.
Cons: In two years of 24/7 use I had three instances of bad sectors whereby the PC wouldn't boot. However I was able to fix it using WD Data Lifeguard Tools.
Pros: Decent drive for the job. It was installed in my Series 2 Tivo. Therefore it was working 24/7 from the day I installed it till the day it died. Installed on 03/2008 and died 01/2011. Lucky im a month still under warranty.
Cons: Angry because I lost all of my recordings because of the drive failure. Seems like it is something related to the hardware because my PC won't even recognize that the drive is installed in the BIOS.
Summary: Have never experienced any issues with WD HD's in the past 10 years. I may be lucky an djust not have had any DOAs. This drive is not as fast as the Black or Raptor's, although a great Brand, Good Specs at at a great price - from New Egg - The Great Place !
Pros: Great PATA HD, at the time a very large HD and still a good bang for the buck ! Very Reliable HD, Its WD ! If you do not have SATA, and still need PATA, then this drive is highly recommended.
Cons: Warranty could be longer, although this is the industry standard
Summary: The overall performance of this drive is mediocre at best when tested by the people at PassMark. It scores a 394, well below average. Unfortunately, I can't upgrade to SATA on this comp, so I'm stuck with whatever IDEs are still available.
Pros: Purchased from Newegg in Dec. 2008. It's worked fine for almost two years.
Cons: In the last couple weeks started making unusual clicking sounds when accessing certain programs. You know what that means.
