Summary: This drive works fine, but be advised that this particular product is not the "retail" version. If you order this you will get a drive in a bag. No cables, no instructions, no software, etc. You can find all the stuff you need online, and HD's are easy to install..
Summary: Home PC Dell 8250 XPS with Win XP with SP1, 1.5GB RAM. Easy installation into mini desktop PC. Installed Win XP software using long format (NTSF) without incident. However, after all software was uploaded, windows did not open.
Summary: Will stay away from WD drives. prefer samsung drives maintains good temp . sound doesn't bother me. dehumidifier is humming behind me in basement, so used to it.
Pros: Used as a backup drive. have it on 24/7 for few days , no data error. SMART ok. Customer support is excellent
Cons: When idle temp stays constant 46C which is not good. in Basement cool atmosphere connected to an open computer without case. Concern is if the temp stays this high in open what will happen when this drive will be inside the case. temp is a big concern with WD, which is an identical issue with WD ...
Summary: WD makes good products, but I no longer trust their previous designs, the newer models such as black are far more reliable.
Pros: its a hard drive, has fairly high storage space and good transfer rates.
Cons: drive runs very hot, not a good thing if you want it to last. Pros: I can't list any because it didn't work for my need. I should have done my homework before choosing the drive.
Cons: It doesn't work in a TiVo Series 1. After some research on the TiVo forums I found that this series of WD drives are known to not work in Series 1 TiVos. It is supposed to work in other Series TiVos.
Summary: The drive was great while it was working. When drive died it would not power up or spin. Biggest disappointment was WD's RMA. I have been sent a different series remaned drive that is much slower and louder than the drive that I purchased.
Summary: the newest one i bought was 1 day old and i heard the clicking sound after downloading for 3 hours, i knew it was dead, i sent it back to newegg RMA, but i guess im out of luck for the one i bought 7 weeks ago...the date on this hard drive when it was built is MARCH 01, 2009..
Pros: plenty of hard drive space, nice and quiet, stays cool, i have bought 4 of these in the past 6 months...the only hard drives i buy are western digital
Cons: 2 weeks after the 1 month warranty ran out for newegg, it died, the circuitboard on it runs so hot it burns my hand, it stopped downloading completely...now i guess im out $80 since the warranty for newegg ran out
