Summary: I don't know what brand to recommend these days. I work on computers and I am seeing a lot of dead hard drives come in to my shop these days of all brands. I think the quality has gone out the door for hard drives these days.
Pros: Worked good for three years.
Cons: Died after three years of very moderate use.
Summary: I bought this drive for a new Windows 7 install. It is deathly slow. Fortunately I had a spare Seagate 7200 RPM drive lying around which works great. The green is quiet, I'll give it that, but no hope for the performance. It might be OK for storage, but it's useless as a boot drive.
Summary: Read the reviews before you buy this drive. I have finally bought a Solid State Drive and I am very pleased with the performance. Time will tell how they compare to the mechanical hard drives. I hope I never have to use a mechanical hard drive again, especially a WD Green drive.
Pros: Storage capacity.
Cons: I bought this hard drive about 3 years ago. It never was impressive from the start. From reading other reviews, I feel like my experience is not unique. The drive was bad about hesitating, and it would even hang up sometimes when Windows booted. I bought this drive for a new build, and it took me...
Summary: I've been running four on a RAID-5 Array on an ASUS M4N72-E motherboard. Major problem: DISK WRITES/READS HAVE HAD MASSIVE LAG, enough to provide massive, RANDOM pauses/freezing, to ALL disk-accessing actions.
Pros: Pros-- It's a green drive. Also-- it's a large size.
Cons: This drive is not supported by a few RAID controllers--one of mention is/was sold by NewEgg-- Rosewill RC-209-EX. Even though that card works on Windows 7 through using Vista drivers, it cannot support these disks. Make sure that you're adding these disks to a PC that can support this type of drive.
Summary: I seem to have trouble with Wesrn Digital drives. I looked at the reviews before buying this one. Now I question WD good reviews because this green drive is already failing and I bought it earlier this year (not sure if from Amazon). I've had two blacks (long gone), blue and green.
Cons: The HD had died. Bad boot sectors. Western Digital products are really bad. My other Western Digital HD just was dead after my order only one and half month ( just lives long enough so you can not return)
