Bought in 2011, still going strong

Anonymous, Newegg
28 February 2015
  • Pros: I bought this drive in 2011 because of the energy/power it saves and it was a great deal. It's still going strong as my secondary data drive with an SSD for OS
  • Cons: Now I wish it was 1TB, but 500gb was a lot for 2011!

Wd green wd5000ads

Mr. D., Newegg
8 August 2014
  • Summary: I don't know what brand to recommend these days. I work on computers and I am seeing a lot of dead hard drives come in to my shop these days of all brands. I think the quality has gone out the door for hard drives these days.
  • Pros: Worked good for three years.
  • Cons: Died after three years of very moderate use.

User Review

James W., Newegg
29 June 2014
  • Summary: I will swear by HD Caviar drives until they give me a good reason not to.
  • Pros: This runs as my secondary hard drive and I store all of my important files on it to make reformatting the OS drive easier. As such, I expected a lot of reliability from this drive, and I got it! It still runs great after 4 years. My computer operates on average 7 hours each day.
  • Cons: None.

Reliable backup drive

Brad O., Newegg
16 December 2013
  • Summary: Couldn't be happier with my experience, especially considering how inexpensive it was in 2010.
  • Pros: No issues in 3.5 years as a backup drive in a couple desktops over that time. Daily use in my primary machine in whatever form that's been over that time.
  • Cons: Not the fastest drive, but no complaints.
