Pretty sweet. Maybe I got lucky though

William B., Newegg
  • Summary: Before I ordered these, I had heard that these things had a high chance of arriving DOA but could be RMA'd if needed. Sure it's a pain if that happens, but they seemed to be designed for my exact use case. I took the chance and ordered.
  • Pros: - I ordered 8 of these and they all worked! Better than I can say for some other reviews I read. - I'm getting between 30 and 70 MBps, but that's 8 drives in RAID 6.
  • Cons: None

I *only* use Western Digital Drives

Justin D., Newegg
7 January 2016
  • Summary: I'll never use another brand of hard drive. With a decade of IT experience WD has never ceased to amaze me. WD is the Mercedes-Benz of hard drives.
  • Pros: I used two of these drives in a RAID 1 configuration in my Synology DS212j and they performed flawlessly. For two years they were used constantly, until I upgraded to the 6TB versions.
  • Cons: Expensive, but worth it.

Great drives

M Harrison, dabs.com

  • Summary: I have two Netgear NAS systems and they were populated with 2TB WD "Green" drives which performed well enough. Once I needed to expand the required space I decided to try the 4TB "Red" drives (the NAS systems can't handle the 6Tb ones :( ) and it was a good choice.
