Summary: This is a good storage drive, not a good OS drive. I am just now sending in my 2nd drive to get my 3rd RMA of this model. Western Digitals RMA process is simple and fast, so that's the only reason I gave it 2 stars! The drive is in a laptop, so of course it gets moved around a bit, but this is 3 drives in 4 years -- unacceptable track record.
Pros: -RMA process is good -plenty of space for multiple OS installs
Summary: I bought this to replace the drive in my son's Sony VAIO. I chose this drive because it was the same model that shipped with the Laptop when we bought it. The original drive lasted 16 months and the replacement only lasted 8 months so I am begining to think this drive not very durable.
Pros: Was cheap when I bought it. Worked great out of the box.
Summary: The RMA process was quick and painless, but unfortunately I had already wasted hours on the installation.
Pros: It worked for a couple days.
Cons: Purchased this to replace a Seagate drive that had the "click of death". I've always used WD drives in the past and didn't even look at another manufacturers' product when making my selection. I spent a couple hours reinstalling the OS, all the updates, programs, printers, etc and the drive seemed fine. Within a couple days my friend called me and said that his machine wouldn't boot. I slapped in a copy of the UBCD and fired up the WD diagnostics. Sure enough, the dri...
Summary: It was defective on arrival. I tried several times to format it and it just wouldn't work. I had to send it back. I bought another one at a local dealer and it took the format on the first try. I think this one was just a bad apple. Better to find out its bad now than later when I have 320 GB of stuff on it.
Summary: If you're happy with your HDD in your laptop only lasting 2 years then I can recommend this drive wholeheartedly! If you'd rather it last a longer, I suggest trying another drive and manufacturer. I don't see much point in people 5*'ing stuff having only owned it a few weeks. What we really need to know is how long these things last and how long do we expect them to last?
Summary: I bought The WD 3200BEVT just over a year ago as a PS3 Upgrade. At first I was Impressed. The seek times were good and the drive was working well with plenty of extra space. Recently though Every time I tuned on the PS3 I got a message that the PS3 was not turned off correctly and that the Drive must be checked. I thought this was odd as I never turned off the PS3 with the power switch I always used the option on the controller?
