Summary: Western Digital used to be the hallmark of hard drives back in the day. It seems they have slipped just as several other manufacturers have. Their black drives are still good but at a higher price point as well. Tough times for a tech these days.
Pros: None to mention-
Cons: Replaced about 4 of these in oem notebooks for clients over the last few months. Most of these were 1-2 years old of various brands. Ordered this same drive replacement and 2 were bad from the factory with sector issues. Will never buy a blue drive again.
Pros: Good price. I ordered this to upgrade my dad's laptop. I usually like Western Digital but drive was DOA. I first tried to RMA online but I got hit with a restocking fee, so a simple call to Newegg cleared that up. Newegg rocks.
Cons: DOA. I didn't order another one. Wasted time. But maybe I'll order again later when I have time to deal with it. Wish they had a 1TB ATA version.
Summary: Why am I being forced to pay for return shipping on a defective product? Is this Newegg's way of telling me I shouldn't shop here ever again?
Pros: A product that doesn't work can't have a pro....
Cons: Formatted, setup copied files, disk read error, the end. Not interested in getting a second one that could highly probably become a big fridge magnet after an hour or two. Has WD ever heard of quality assurance? This must be the dozenth WD hdd that I've had die. Oh how I miss you IBM.
Summary: The notebook which received this drive became unbootable a few days ago, and disk diagnostics show write errors and other error counts increasing. I need things to work, and this does not help.
Pros: Large physical hard drive with a PATA interface which mostly positively reviewed.
Cons: Actively unhappy about this drive failure - especially so soon after installing the OS, updating, transferring data, configuring, and testing. Given that the "infant mortaility rate of new parts" is alive and true, I can't help wonder if this is this a problem with Western Digital notebook hard d...
Cons: I ordered two of these to update service machines with older drives. Two arrived and were DOA. Two replacements were sent and were DOA. I was refunded my money and went with a different brand. I will never buy WD again.
Summary: This is the second OEM WD drive (two different products) in a row that have failed within a month of purchase. While NEWEGG service is great I am very displeased with WD quality. I don't see how large companies such as HP or Dell would tolerate such quality and I don't see why I should have to.
Pros: large storage for drive type
Cons: drive failed on 2 attempts to restore a drive image and then received subsequent errors upon attempting to install windows xp.
Summary: I ordered this drive in an attempt to increase my laptop storage space. It was an easy install. I formatted the drive and installed the OS without difficulty. I had the hard drive crash 2 days later. I re installed the OS and had the same thing happen that day.
Summary: I DO NOT recommend this hard drive to anyone. I've purchased many harddrives but this one had the earliest failure of all.
Pros: High capacity for a PATA 2.5" HD
Cons: After 4 months my hard drive would no longer load the OS. When I initially purchased the hard drive there were many bad sectors, a month after repairing the bad sectors the cyclic redundancy errors started.
