Dissapointed

Kimberly M., Newegg
25 November 2010
  • Summary: RMA this HD? Has anyone ever had a remanufactured HD actually work? I won't be wasting money on a remanufactured HD. I wish Hitachi still produced IDE HD's. I have four computers with Hitachi IDE's and four years later they still run fine. Hitachi also respaced HD's with NEW ones.
  • Pros: Worked fine on installation.
  • Cons: I 100% expected this last choice of hard drive manufactures to last about 8 months before dying. I was wrong. The Western Digital, BTW, is my LAST choice just behind Seagate and neither has lived down to my lowest expectations. Every year companies find a way to make cheaper and cheaper quality p...

Very quiet!

James Y., Newegg
23 September 2010
  • Pros: I installed them into my linux server set up as raid 1. They are very quiet and don't generate as much heat as the old ones. The real test will be when I deal with a T-Storm
  • Cons: None

Problem free

Todd K., Newegg
19 May 2010
  • Summary: It's a WD. I've always been a big supporter of their products, they have never failed me yet. They've been a market leader for many years, I build my comps with their drives. 2 things I've never had fail, my Asus motherboards and my WD Hard Drives. Happy shopping : )
  • Pros: An excellent choice for a replacement Tivo DVR drive and upgrade. Noticably faster than my last older drive, also a WD, but fairly old and heavily used. It's an AV drive--that means its specifically built for constant cycling use, writing and rewriting, ie digital surveillance or DVR, not for you...
  • Cons: None that I can see or hear, I'm just extremely pleased with the overall speed and capacity.

Help with bytes

Sheri B., Newegg
27 January 2010
  • Summary: All Computer Hardware that has space like RAM, Hard Drives etc. Will have a certain subtraction of that space. Raven indicated he felt cheated buying 320 gigs and only getting 300 something. A fundamental fact about bits, bytes and space is you will always lose a percentage of that space.
  • Pros: None, just older technology soon to be obsolete.
  • Cons: None.

Anonymous, Newegg
24 January 2010
  • Summary: i wish seagate was still what they once were. they actually gave you more then what you paid for and they lasted for ever i still have 6 seagate sata drives that are from when first satas came out and they are still running strong!
  • Pros: decent price for something this old was putting it in my mechanics pc for his alldata software ( diagrams schematics exploded views for every car make/model )
  • Cons: advertised as 320 gb... win xp only detects 305225 mb ... typical every single wd drive i ever get i get less than what i pay for.

  • Summary: Western Digital is the way to go. Seagate has lots of issues and are really loud, so unless you are blaring music while you're on your computer.
  • Pros: Very quiet.
  • Cons: None that I've seen.

Nervig

RHausUhi, geizhals.de
14 April 2008
  • Summary: Lautes, brummig-nerviges Laufgeräusch im cctv Dauerbetrieb.
