Summary: I bought 2 of these drives for backup use in a DAS enclosure. One drive died out of two after a year and a half of very light use, perhaps 10 hours of intermittent use per month just used for backing up data. The rest of the time these drives just sat in an unplugged enclosure on a desktop not even spinning! If you read many reviews for these drives you will find extremely high light usage failure rates!
Summary: I had two of these come in and go into a Drobo. The drives are very sturdy and feel well made. One of the two threw an error the first day and was reported as defective by the Drobo within a week. The replacement has worked without a problem. I will buy more of the Red drives, but will stress test them before putting into production.
Summary: T-D does not secure the drive from moving in the shipping box so it is free to hit against the side of the cartons at whatever speed the box is thrown around. After agreeing to send a replacement drive that was packed properly, they just sent the next one the same way, unsecured in a box. They argue that the drive is built to withstand 3 G's while the heads are parked, so it doesn't matter.
Summary: This product provides the storage capacity for which I was looking and was offered at an attractive price. It was delivered as promised. I simply unpacked it, connected two plugs and secured it in place.
Summary: I have bought two of these drives. So far things appear to be working well. Installation was straight forward. From a speed perspective - they arn't the fastest drives. And i have read lots of posts about unreliability but I will have to wait for a month or so before I can comment on the quality. From what I see so far they are ok... Not the best but ok.
