Summary: Refurbished Hard Drive ha, a Hard Drive is iether new or second hand! These are second hand and for the life of me I don't understand why you would buy these second hand Hard Drives when Brand New Hard Drives cost only a little more than these second hand ones. You get what you pay for!
Summary: I know these hard drives are refurbished but I buy Western Digital because of their quality control and reliability of their product. Given all the negative reviews, this many DOAs are unacceptable.
Pros: Bought two. The one that works passed a long test and functions as it should.
Cons: The one that is bad makes clicking noise right out of antistatic bag. Not recognized by bios. Unable to run tests. Had to DOA right away.
Summary: I purchased this drive from Amazon. It lasted a little over a year, then died. Since I had been using Western Digital drives exclusively since I started building computers in the late 1990s, I assumed that this was a fluke, and I purchased and installed another one, same model as the one that died.
Summary: I tried, with Lifeguard, to recertify a HD which windows would not format. It would pass tests, fail to format, and then fail the same tests. I zeroed the disk twice, +3 hours a pop, and windows said not initialized. Windows was right. Who recertifies these things?
Pros: Free Shipping
Cons: Shipping is free until you have to return the drive. What a waste of time and effort. WD Lifeguard Diagnostic Utility confirmed "many" bad sectors. No ZERO eggs.
Summary: I've had good success with Reconditioned parts from Newegg up to now. This will be the last "recertified" drive I buy. I've learned my lesson.
Cons: Junk. Ordered two of these for an economy SATA machine I was putting together for the kids. Neither one of them works. I've been using WD for years and only had two failures. This is the first time I've ever had a drive fail out of the box. You get what you pay for I suppose.
Summary: I bought this one in 2008. In less of two years it stopped! At first everything was OK, but before a year of use, my computer said "the disk is very damaged and recommended change it", in that times, bug reports indicated that in Palimpset (disk tool of Ubuntu 9.10) had a bug reading S.M.A.R.T.
