Summary: Horrible hard drive at first it was a little slow thought nothing of it. It got slower and slower until it rebooted several times in a loop. Once it finally came up checked it with crystal disk info a hard drive health software and came up in a caution state with bad sectors. Don't waste your money with this one.
Summary: This was to be used as a slave drive to prolong the life of an old HP/Compaq d220 MT desktop computer. The original 40 GB drive was full, and my kids needed additional storage to download their digital images from their cameras. I have two of these desktops, so I purchased two drives and installed them both as slave drives. For the price, the storage capacity is great, it works as intended. They did come in generic packaging with no labeling and no instructions.
Summary: This drive has been in my Gateway GT5200 I refurbed for 7 months now. I installed it. It booted up, no problems. Installed Windows and it has been running ever since. Quite and fast. Western Digital makes quality drives. Upon review of sellers though it seems Amtech was one of the best rated for service and satisfaction. The seller packed it well and shipping was amazingly fast. (2 days from day of order is all it took!) Good service.
Summary: The click of death arrived exactly 2 years and 2 days after my purchase, just past the warranty. Nice going Western Digital. You have mastered the art of JUST ENOUGH to get by. Not the quality I had expected or experienced in the past with WD drives. Switching to Seagate ST3250623A-RK (250 GB Ultra ATA/100) with a 5-year warranty. May I never have to depend on WD again, and can only thank them for wasting my time...
Summary: I'm using this as a second hard drive in my desktop Macintosh. The drive has a sturdy feel to it. I've handled a lot of drives and this one is quite heavy when compared to the other drives I have used. I've had it in everyday use for over a month now and have had no problems at all and I don't expect any. This drive is a good value. When used on a mac you simply plug it in, and turn it on.
Summary: This Western Digital Cavair Blue internal hard drive operates well but makes a bit more noise than the original drive that was in my Dell desktop. The installation was easy and with the free drive cloning software that's available on the Internet I finished the install in one hour. The noise is not a real problem and is only heard occasionally. It's a good buy for the price and I plan on buying another to upgrade my laptop.
Summary: The Good: This breathes a new lease on life into my old desktop. I won't be replacing my perfectly good disc burners, and losing the use of megabucks worth of software not compatible with the latest O.S. & hardware when I build my new CPU. Not only is this larger than my old HDD, it is faster, and the price is more than reasonable. The free cloning software download on WD's site is a big big plus as well!
Summary: I needed more HDD space on my old computer, so I went with WD. I liked the software that came with it ( downloaded on there site ) to clone your old HDD worked great. Easy install, I have had it in for about 3 weeks works great.
