Summary: The Good: This breathes a new lease on life into my old desktop. I won't be replacing my perfectly good disc burners, and losing the use of megabucks worth of software not compatible with the latest O.S. & hardware when I build my new CPU. Not only is this larger than my old HDD, it is faster, and the price is more than reasonable. The free cloning software download on WD's site is a big big plus as well!
Summary: It came without any software ... And the website for Western Digital was no help .. They didn't even have software for it. Tried on 2 computers .. it would not properly install on either of them. Won't buy Western Digital again .. no support I returned it and got a Seagate ... which worked right out of the gate...
Summary: Yes I AM really enjoying my recent Buy.com purchase! BUY.COM ROCKS! It is OEM package, so no thrills but well packed and protected. Installation was easy. Have not had any problems with recognizing this drive. I installed it but I set it as primary drive and have not experienced any problems.
Summary: It is OEM package, so there are no thrills but well packed and protected. Installation was easy and Windows and Bias have not had any problems with recognizing this drive. It is only one month since I installed it but I set it as primary drive and have not experienced any problems.
Summary: New hard disk for my 6 year old Notebook as the original just did not provide sufficient space for all my photo's etc. Installed 8 months ago and is working fine, no problems. The higher spin speed (7200 vs 5600) and the larger onboard cache (8MB vs 4MB) have between them speeded up Windows nicely as a by-product. Windows was taking about 6 mins to startup and is now taking about 2 mins - big improvement.
Summary: This product was delivered before the atated time and was a brand new product, unfortunately the connecting sockets were different to the the original which this item was supposed to replace. So unit was returned and a prompt no fuss refund was made. So I can endorse a good supplier who not only supplied on time but was very quick in a no quibble refund.
Summary: Hi all, I bought one of these after reading all the reviews, seemed like a good buy, but.... The drive is sold as 250gb, eide/pata, it is a 150gb drive with a 127gb capacity. On registering the product with Western, their system shows it as 320gb SATAII. There is no warranty on these drives as they come up as 'out of area' On querying all this Western have traced the original supply to APAC which is in Uganda, hence no warranty.
