2 out of three work

Johnny L., Newegg
22 September 2015
  • Summary: 33% failure rate on this one order. Maybe that's why there is only a 30 day warranty on these drives - they are not expected to last.
  • Pros: Cheap - Two out of the three I ordered three seem to work OK.
  • Cons: The first drive that I installed was defective. I checked it with the W.D. Diagnostic tool and it has bad sectors that can not be repaired. I should have checked it before I took wasted time installing the O.S. The drive will have to be sent back.

Great HDD

David K., Newegg
11 August 2012
  • Summary: I recommend this product unless you download games and such, as it will run out of space in no time!
  • Pros: I've owned this hard drive for around 5 years and it is still running fine!
  • Cons: The only con I have is that is only has 127 GB not 160. I will be buying a new hard drive soon because of this small size. I'd but it again, if it were 500gb! :D The only reason I have this is because my brother built me a pc and I had a small budget, so he got a 160gb hdd without acknowledgement...

Good for the Casual user

Jonathan R., Newegg
12 March 2012
  • Summary: WD is always quality product, but in the end, you pay for what you get. If you are doing something HDD intensive go for a bigger cache.
  • Pros: WD brand name. I've been using WD products for almost 15 years now and I've yet to have one fail.
  • Cons: 8 MB Cache....My own fault for not paying attention really, however the cache size can cause bottlenecks when gaming or running other high-end software that requires high HDD usage.

Good while it lasts

Martin T., Newegg
5 July 2011
  • Summary: I have other older hard drives that still run just fine. No more Western Digital drives for me.
  • Pros: Fast. Quiet. Cheap.
  • Cons: Hard drives should last more than 2 years. All data on drive is unrecoverable. Just great.

shipped defective product

DW1, Amazon
23 February 2007
  • Summary: Vendor honored return agreement. The hard drive was defective out of the box..evidently a new factory return that should have been discarded and not resold . This is the first WD drive I have had a problem with in 15 years...Western Digital (WD )makes great hardrives.

Where is the warranty?

Dan Marshall, Amazon
2 June 2007
  • Summary: Great drive, I always use WD drives but this came without warranty! I find the WD drives great, but the best part is the return service when things go wrong (and they all do). Luckily the WD drive replacement service is A1. Not so with this drive :(
