I'm glad I did

quickster, Amazon
  • Summary: That bottom part has no guard so the disk is open for anything to get caught on it. I'm not sure if this is normal, but I'm not sweating it since the pc booted up, let me install ubuntu on it, and runs well so far. I also bought the warranty. I'm glad I did!

Died after very little use

Letitia W., Newegg
15 February 2015
  • Summary: I really think it should have been more reliable.
  • Pros: Seemed to run smoothly, quietly, and fast while it worked.
  • Cons: It was several years old when it died, but I had used this computer very little over that time. It had few hours on it.

Excellent

Mary H., Newegg
14 February 2015
  • Summary: After many years of everyday, almost all day use, my old WD Blue 500 Gb. finally started to give up the ghost. I found I didn't really need 500 Gbs., but I did need to stick with WD, because they work and they last, even with heavy use. It is loaded with tons of music, videos, pics, docs, etc. and I have barely made a dent in it. I've had no luck with other brands. WD is the only HDD I will buy.
  • Pros: Highly recommend. Easy to install, recognized immediately. Linux Mint loaded flawlessly. Works great, quickly shipped.
  • Cons: None.

Good little hard drive for the money.

David Fletcher, Amazon
4 November 2014
  • Summary: Bought this to install linux on, ended up swapping the purpose and using it as a document and music storage with a small virtual machine of linux on it, but I did get linux on it and a successful dual boot working. I haven't noticed slow read or write speeds seems to work as a just fine hard drive.

Works perfectly, very quiet.

J. Cafferty "photoman", Amazon
4 June 2014
  • Summary: I bought this to add to my computer as a back-up hard drive. My main HD is also 160GB, so they are a good match. It was easy to copy all important files from my my main HD to this new back-up hard drive. I now have duplicate copies (a s well as CDs) of my Family Photographs (and scanned photos) which span a period of 50 years. Other software can be purchased quite easily. But you can't go back and re-shoot your "little ballerina's" first dance recital.

Yuck

Henry Starcher, Amazon
2 May 2014
  • Summary: Once again so tired like I have the time to write reviews for "good job done"....group hug. Thinking of just ordering from somewhere else that cost more, but do keep annoying and bugging me for reviews
