Summary: All things considered, a cheap hard drive used for media storage that lasted 18 months isn't a miserable experience, it's just disappointing. Western Digital has not adequately addressed the issue either, as any Google search related to WD15EADS-00P8B0 will reveal.
Pros: When it worked, it was cheap storage.
Cons: It stopped working after 18 months, reads from the drive would come to a crawl and make file copying impossible.
Summary: I bought two of these drives for use in a DNS-321 NAS. I started having problems with file transfers. Things would start out normal and then slowly degrade, with throughput dropping to zero and even aborting.
Summary: This review comes very late but it still doesn't change the fact that this hard drive is utterly useless. This item was purchased to serve as a slave in April 2010. It performed well doing the few tasks that I required of it, then one horrible day in July 2010 it went BYE BYE.
Summary: Learn from me, don't be cheap & buy the WD black drives.
Pros: If it worked properly & for any length of time, I would say great value for the size of the drive.
Cons: Don't use for a DVR! Made a mistake putting these in my Tivos. I have 4 Tivo's with custom hard drives I put in. Two of them I used WD black hard drives & two of them I used WD green hard drives. I thought I could save some money using the WD green hard drive since is spins slower & use's less en...
Summary: I never thought I'd write a review about the packaging, but this was really really a poor packing job. The reviews that say that the packaging has been fixed no longer seems to be true. The bare drive arrived loose in a box with no cushion and was left on my doorstep in the rain.
