Dead after a year

J. Nixon, Amazon
7 October 2012
  • Summary: Bought this OEM for my MacBook unibody in September 2011. Last week I noticed I could only boot Windows but not OSX. Reinstalled OSX and thought it was fixed. Now it won't boot anything but the installation disk. Disk Utility says there are problems with the hard drive that makes it unable to repair. That indicates hard drive failure.

Great, until it died after a year

Eric Nelson, Amazon
7 September 2012
  • Summary: It was great to have enough space for both MacOS and bootcamped Ubuntu on my Macbook pro, but the drive died after a year. Who knows, maybe this was the 1/1000 that died early, but I will be buying a Seagate or something else next time.

Drive too tall

Lamonte Haynes, Amazon
26 January 2012
  • Summary: This drive is 12mm tall and cannot fit into my laptop. My drive bay max hight is 9.5mm and currently fits a samsung drive.I tried putting the WD drive into an external enclosure but again the enclosure is 9.5mm in height and the WD could not fit. A waste of money.

Crashed after 6 weeks.

Dustin Stringer, Amazon
21 March 2011
  • Summary: I recently purchased this drive as an upgrade for a 2010 Macbook Pro, as I was looking for more space. Unfortunately the drive head crashed after just 6 weeks of intermittent use. While this is most likely just an unlucky aberration and most drives will last for a much longer period, this is still very disappointing. My drive was fully backed up, but this sort of thing is a pain in the proverbial. Be wary.

Not ps3 compatible

Hsr, Amazon
16 January 2011
  • Summary: Works fine in my desktop but I really bought this for ps3 upgrade. It's too thick and dosnt fit in the ps3 slot. Unfortunately I thought all 2.5 drives were standard format dimensions. This one is thicker by around 3 to 5 mm which is just too much.

passt nicht

Karsten Rehberg, Amazon
17 December 2011
