Great, until it died after a year
Eric Nelson, Amazon
7 September 2012
Summary: It was great to have enough space for both MacOS and bootcamped Ubuntu on my Macbook pro, but the drive died after a year. Who knows, maybe this was the 1/1000 that died early, but I will be buying a Seagate or something else next time.
Cons: Bought first one in June, it died less than a month later. Got RMA and second one. It just died, after only a few weeks. Got RMA for third one, hope it actually works more than a few weeks, when I get it. Hard to like it when it when it does not work very long. Save your money and get another bra...
Summary: will order a different drive from same company but with different height. Dell didn't make the specs easier to find and i couldn't find them. Ordered with windows 7 disk, hope i can return just the hard drive. will call new egg in the morning.
Pros: From a reputable company that stands behind their product.
Cons: Way to big to fit in a dell inspiron 1525. about 1/8'th of an inch to tall
Summary: This is a Dell Studio 1555, a pretty common laptop.
Pros: Im sure it would work great if I could fit it in the laptop.
Cons: Newegg sent the wrong drive the first time, we rush and 2nd day aired the correct drive and upon arrival we discovered it was too thick to fit into the laptop. (after 7 hours of cloning) You would think they would mention this in the details.
Cons: Its massive physically as well, the drive was supposed to go into my ps3 but even though it is 2.5 (supposedly), it is WAY TOOO TALL - WAAYYYYY TOOO TALL. So dumb... Now I will have to wait another week to do something so simple..
Summary: I have not seen a 2.5" drive over 500GB or a 3.5" drive over 1TB that has ever worked for more than a few months. I would never ever put anything that I intend to keep on those drives.
Pros: Price Western Digital "Quality"
Cons: Slow-ish, but not too bad. What you would normally expect from a 5400rpm 2.5" HDD. Drive is super thick, but it still JUST fits into ET-CS2BSU2-BK. Drive fully formatted and transferred 200GB successfully. The next copy of about 200GB ran very slow and constantly crashed explorer. Tried the HDD d...
Pros: Well I can't give any pros because it won't fit in any of the cases I was going to use to try it.
Cons: The drive, while within the 2.5" form factor is oversized and will likely not fit in most applications that use the NORMAL 2.5" drive. First WD purchase in about 10 years, now I remember why I stopped buying.
Summary: This drive has failed twice, it works fine if you are just copying a few files but if you start coping gigs at a time it over heats and gives write errors. I just setup my second replacement with WD, if this one fails I will be requesting a refund per California lemon law.
Cons: thicker than standard drives, may not fit in external enclosures as well as some laptops
