Summary: I loved this hard drive but in less than 3 months it crashed an started making clacking sounds and my 150 ide hard-drive is still running Strong i don't think it's my fault but this hd just was a total failure
Summary: Found out after I got these harddrives that they are not build for RAID configurations. What I mean is that only a few select harddrives are build to be used in RAIDs. The problem is that non-RAID hardware, like these units, take too long to correct disk errors should they occur. By taking so long, the RAID software thinks the unit is bad and kicks it off the RAID setup. Hence you get all the negative reviews of NAS devices. Something along these lines: 1.
Summary: Amazon needs to improve their shipping department's accuracy. I ordered a WD 1TB Green HDD and the first one I received was a WD 500GB Black HDD. Contacted amazon's customer service and rep arranged for a second HDD to be shipped to me and also emailed a return shipping label. Received the 2nd HDD and again it was a WD 500GB HDD. Contacted amazon cust serv again and was told to wait a week and to reorder the 1TB green HDD again. Was emailed a 2nd return shipping label.
Summary: I recieved my new drive, formatted and partitioned it, used the WD version of Acronis and mirrored the OEM Caviar SE 16 WD. After installing in my Media Center Tower, you can hear the drive working! It is the noisiest drive I have ever heard! I have owned Seagate, WD and Hitachi drives, and if this is the quietest drive around, I would really hate to hear the loudest. I wish I knew if it was becasue of it being a greeny, I have only owned WD SE or Blacks before.
Summary: I've read reviews on this site about how hard drive are improperly packaged by amazon, but I guess I really didn't believe it. I received a power supply and this hard drive together in a single box with minimal bubble padding, which was only on the top. Underneath that, a power supply, underneath that, a hard drive packed only in an esd bag. Did I mention the box was enormous. It was like on Ace Ventura when he was pretending to be the mailman.
Summary: Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this? ) I picked up two of these drives to make my changeover to Windows 7 on a new computer. I ran on one of them for about a month, checking out the hardware on XP. When I installed Win7, I used the second drive for most of my programs and data. After about 24-48 hours of heavy use, that second drive croaked. It wouldn't read some data and I got a bunch of SMART errors reported when I rebooted.
Very Fast, Runs Cool, A Little Noisy for HTPCs, Bad Packaging

Summary: I purchased this drive to replace a Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB Bulk/OEM Hard Drive 3.5 Inch, 16 MB Cache, 7200 RPM SATA II WD5000AAKS, which by the way, was amazingly fast and quiet . This drive is just as fast, but too noisy for my taste. I prefer little to no noise from desktop and HTPC builds. This drive is better than many other drives out there, but still gives off noticeable noise.
Summary: i ordered 4 of these drives and one is DOA, i shipped then by FEDEX 2 day service, and the actual boxing was kinda weak, light bubble warp in a small box each, and all those small boxes inside a bigger box with no more bubble warps or anything. just a plain box. i decided to order this HDD on amazon because the heavy protections they use to ship their stuff, but i guess THIS time they decided not to protect my stuff.
Summary: I ordered this item 5 days ago and to be fair it arrived on its due date. However the drive, in its anti-static bag, was wrapped in 2 sheets of thick paper and had then been placed in a single skin cardboard box prior to its dispatch from Germany. This is the poorest packaging I have ever seen for transporting a £60.00 hard drive. The drive has now been fitted and it works.
