So far so good.

Summary: So far so good. Just got this a few days ago as an upgrade to my current 160 GB hard drive. My current drive works OK but I needed a larger drive to handle video editing. I have been using Redo backup which is great. The CD loads at startup and uses a mini operating system that is separate from Windows. The new drive installed flawlessly and I restored a backup to this much larger drive.

Summary: Bought this hdd for the desktop I'm building with my grandchildren. I initialized it in my existing desktop then ran a transfer scan using HD Tune. As with any hdd, the scan starts out very fast (above 100mb per second), but the graph quickly declines from there. I tested an older WD 640 gb hdd and found the same transfer slide during the testing process.
Summary: WD makes great hard drives. I opted for the black edition, because I wanted the speed as close to SSD as i could get. I know this probably doesnt come near, but it was the fastest Non-ssd WD had so I went with it. 1tb is more than enough space for me.
Excerpt: Copied over my entire drive from a dying Seagate 4+ years old. Took all the copy over painlessly to become the new primary boot from my iMac. Runs VERY cool! However does not plug into the iMac heat sync (only reason for a star loss). So I have to use an app to manage the fan speed. Barely needs the fan, while copying at high speed it was cool to the touch!
Pros: Cold Temperature, Fast Connectivity, Quiet, Reliable
