Summary: WD BLACK TO ME IS SPEED. BE AWARE THE SSD WRITE SPEED IS PAINFULLY SLOW IN THE NEW SSD WORLD. THEN THE 1 TB DRIVE IS 5400RPM REALLY?????? TO CALL THIS A BLACK DRIVE THE SSD READ AND WRITE SPEEDS SHOULD BE 400 OR BETTER. THE 1TB DRIVE SHOULD BE 7200RPM OR BETTER.
Summary: Let me start off by saying that I shop frequently with Amazon and have returned items in the past, but this item has been the first that I have felt the need to write a review. First, let me state that MAYBE I just received a defective device, but the entire process of dealing with said device was a huge waste of my time. I had initially intended on cloning my current operating system onto this new drive.
Summary: In the system requirements of the description, it states "Mac OS X (Coming Winter 2013)". As of 2/8/2014, if you go to Western Digital's website, it states differently. Go to the following URL: [...] Click on FAQ --> OS Questions and you'll see the following: * Will the WD Black2drive work in a Mac? The Mac OS is not supported at this time.
Summary: First install worked fine. Wanted to reinstall Windows 7 from scratch after learning more about separating SSD and HDD but can't restore the drive to the original out if box setting (just SSD visible). Product not ready for prime time.
Summary: I've been using this for several months now and, in all honesty, it is awful! The HD is very slow indeed, much slower than my old SATA2 drives! The SD isn't much better either! Appaling waste of cash!
Summary: Got this for a New build computer - G1 sniper 5 Motherboard, i7 4790 quad core processor, 32gb Vegeance memory, GeForce GTX 770 Graphics, 850w power supply, Blue-ray rewriter. After completing the build & installing OS & a couple of Games I tested the rig out & noticed lagging in game (152 mb broadband) which my old i5 quad core had no problem playing. I upgraded the cooling system thinking 50c was maybe causing the problem on CPU.
