Summary: If the life span and the firmware could be better on these drives, they would be great for fast servers or mini media PCs, but if the life span is less than a year then it is not worth it. Now I have to RMA the second replacement drive again and pay shipping.
Pros: Fast SSD and small form factor. interesting concept.
Cons: Requires Software to show 1TB HDD, OS (Windows 7-10) will only show the SSD when first installed. Must Have windows upgraded to see both SSD and HDD as one drive, (not tested on Mac OS X) otherwise it will show as 2 drives. Life Span: Bought 2. The one in my desktop is still runnng. The other dri...
Summary: I really wanted this to work as I would have had in a very small case both a fast boot drive and a reasonably large media storage capacity!
Pros: Would have been great for my small form factor project . Was easy to set up, but since then it has stopped working
Cons: On day one the drive wasn't recognized in one of the boots. I thought it was due to some bad connection, so I put everything back together again and it started again. I left my project aside for a couple months, came back to it this week and, again, after a few boots the drive fails to boot and i...
Summary: I did the clone procedure......maybe a fresh install of OS could work, but my laptop came pre-loaded W7 and I do not have a retail set of discs.
Cons: Compatibility issues with my HP Pavilion dm4....not the drive's fault, it's an HP issue with limited BIOS adjustment. This HP will view drives as RAID...even though that is not the case. BIOS in the HP does not allow access to change that. As noticed by WD, this drive does not work in RAID. Will ...
Summary: How about a better drive for me and you take this drive in exchange.
Pros: bought 4/23/2015. I do not recommend this duel drive. Performance overall is better with a single WD 7200rpm with fast access time. For the $ not worth half that amount. There is a period that I find myself waiting for the 2nd drive to participate. This is a computer, I should not have that amoun...
Cons: WHY DOES THE DRIVE HAVE TO SPIN UP MOST OF THE TIME? Eco-madness. Since the early 1990's I have always used WD after loosing other brands. This never should have been released. Shame on you. Poor design, poor firmware with no user options. 120GB SSD is to small. The spin up waiting is the most ir...
Summary: My laptop takes two hard drives. I replaced the SSD OS drive with a dual drive, partitioned, installed the OS fresh. Kept most of my data on the existing data drive, moved some of it to the second partition of the dual drive.
Pros: - Great concept. - Worked well at first.
Cons: - Drive developed bad sectors. - OS started hanging, very badly.
Summary: So... used to have faith in WD. Used to...
Pros: Packaged well, if not excessively
Cons: Device was never recognized by BIOS. Tried an older known working drive in its place, ruled out cabling, motherboard, and power supply. Actually broke out the manual to follow "cloning" instructions to see if the included USB adapter would allow a computer to recognize the drive. Nope. And, the f...
Summary: I have been a fan of this company for many years it is too bad that this is how they treat customers with things like charging for shipping a new drive and returns when it never worked to begin with.
Pros: Sounds good in theory
Cons: DOES NOT WORK DOA took me 6 weeks to get around performing the upgrade and it will not work. Used the required software by WD and it still didn't work. Contacted Customer support for horrible service. WD has placed a hold on my credit card with a value of nearly three times to price of a new driv...
Cons: I built my system, gave everything a once over powered it on. The drive smoked, so I immediately powered down and checked everything. The drive was the only issue. I replaced the drive with an old Samsung 850 EVO SSD i had laying around. Everything is great now. Requested RMA.
Summary: I would probably call WD again, but after being talked down to like I was putting my first hard drive in a laptop ever I do not think so. I have a WD 1.5gig USB 3.0 HD that constantly connects and disconnects so this is strike 2.
Pros: great idea the reviews made it look very promising. HOWEVER I think it is finicky and does not play well with some hardware.
Cons: this drive Does not work. first drive I got would not load the operating system. tried 3 different windows CDs. tried external DVD thinking my internal drive was the problem. Had to go to WD to send it back. the "Service Tech" was a real smart ..Alick and basically implied I did not know what I w...
