NOT Compatable with Windows 10

LESTER L., Newegg
13 March 2016
  • Pros: Installed and worked great when my Lenovo W541 running Windows 7x64
  • Cons: WD Level 2 support has informed me the 1TB "hidden" partition is NOT compatible with Windows 10x64. One can install Windows 10 OS on the 120 GB SSD, but nay attempts to unlock the 1TB partition with the WD utility (driver) WDBlack2.5.1.32.5 will fail with the error message "Unable to detect WD Bl...

Despite what they say, this drive can NOT be configured to work on Macintosh systems.

Chris Harnish, Amazon
24 November 2015
  • Summary: NOT compatible with the Macintosh System!! and they don't say or even know this! I purchased this drive looking for fast performance. After installation, it shows up as a 118.8 GB drive and you're supposed to use their utility to create a Fusion type single drive or 2 separate drives, but on my Mac...

WD black 2

David G., Newegg
23 August 2015
  • Summary: If the life span and the firmware could be better on these drives, they would be great for fast servers or mini media PCs, but if the life span is less than a year then it is not worth it. Now I have to RMA the second replacement drive again and pay shipping.
  • Pros: Fast SSD and small form factor. interesting concept.
  • Cons: Requires Software to show 1TB HDD, OS (Windows 7-10) will only show the SSD when first installed. Must Have windows upgraded to see both SSD and HDD as one drive, (not tested on Mac OS X) otherwise it will show as 2 drives. Life Span: Bought 2. The one in my desktop is still runnng. The other dri...

Unreliable

Isidro Z., Newegg
11 August 2015
  • Summary: I really wanted this to work as I would have had in a very small case both a fast boot drive and a reasonably large media storage capacity!
  • Pros: Would have been great for my small form factor project . Was easy to set up, but since then it has stopped working
  • Cons: On day one the drive wasn't recognized in one of the boots. I thought it was due to some bad connection, so I put everything back together again and it started again. I left my project aside for a couple months, came back to it this week and, again, after a few boots the drive fails to boot and i...

Gary W., Newegg
1 August 2015
  • Pros: None. It doesn't work.
  • Cons: Takes Extensive Effort even for someone with 30 years working with pc's just to get a clone of an existing HD. After two weeks still cannot get it to boot.

Trouble with HP Pavilion

Miles L., Newegg
10 July 2015
  • Summary: I did the clone procedure......maybe a fresh install of OS could work, but my laptop came pre-loaded W7 and I do not have a retail set of discs.
  • Pros: Unsure
  • Cons: Compatibility issues with my HP Pavilion dm4....not the drive's fault, it's an HP issue with limited BIOS adjustment. This HP will view drives as RAID...even though that is not the case. BIOS in the HP does not allow access to change that. As noticed by WD, this drive does not work in RAID. Will ...

major slowdown between drives

Gary D., Newegg
23 June 2015
  • Summary: How about a better drive for me and you take this drive in exchange.
  • Pros: bought 4/23/2015. I do not recommend this duel drive. Performance overall is better with a single WD 7200rpm with fast access time. For the $ not worth half that amount. There is a period that I find myself waiting for the 2nd drive to participate. This is a computer, I should not have that amoun...
  • Cons: WHY DOES THE DRIVE HAVE TO SPIN UP MOST OF THE TIME? Eco-madness. Since the early 1990's I have always used WD after loosing other brands. This never should have been released. Shame on you. Poor design, poor firmware with no user options. 120GB SSD is to small. The spin up waiting is the most ir...

Very disappointed

Russell P., Newegg
21 June 2015
  • Summary: My laptop takes two hard drives. I replaced the SSD OS drive with a dual drive, partitioned, installed the OS fresh. Kept most of my data on the existing data drive, moved some of it to the second partition of the dual drive.
  • Pros: - Great concept. - Worked well at first.
  • Cons: - Drive developed bad sectors. - OS started hanging, very badly.
