Summary: The WD customer support has been very on top of things. But it sort of makes me think these drives are known to fail. I'm not taxing them at all -- they're not even 200 gb full and it's used as a media computer for my 5 year old to watch shows and play LEGO video games. Very disappointing thus far.
Pros: The pros when this drive is running are many: It's fast, a very capable boot drive, good enough storage for games, doesn't increase computer's internal temperature much.
Cons: The cons so far have been many: The first drive was shipped with a couple of bad sectors according to HDTune (always run that on new drives). I contacted Newegg and then Western Digital to see if those two bad sectors were enough to do a return. WD advised me to run their program to see if the dr...
Cons: Hard drive crashed within 6 months of purchase. I do not consider this hard drive to be a worthy investment as less expensive hard drives have last me longer. I had always heard good things about Western Digital but I will be going with another brand from now on.
Summary: If I have to return the drive I'll upgrade to SSD.
Pros: Big size drive, somewhat fast
Cons: Lots of noise! Have had nothing but problems, check-disc runs every time I boot up sometimes more than once. It crashed completely yesterday. In the repair shop and I'm waiting for a report of the problem. May have to return the drive?
