I love these drives and have used them for years

Summary: I love these drives and have used them for years. These drives (velociraptors) are for raw power, speed and mainly for enthusiasts or enterprise users. They Will Make Some Noise! So, if you are one of these folks that want whisper quiet, these likely aren't what you want. You would be much better off buying the WD Black edition which is also an excellent mechanical drive. I own 4 of these at different sizes etc. and have just purchased this one.
Summary: I purchased this to put all my games on. Helps tremendously with initial load times and load times between levels/zones. I had the 300 GB version of this drive as my boot drive for 3 years and it worked flawlessly. Highly recommend it if, like me, you have a number very large games that access the drive a lot.
Summary: this item is NOT as fast as they claim it is , in comparison to a 7200 RPM speed it not even as fast , unless this product is a junk product , although I am aware a few people have complained in regards to this drive
Summary: These drives are pricey but are the fastest conventional drives you will be able to afford. would be an excellent laptop drive when removed from the frame. I use this for my frequently used programs leaving my SSD's for the OS and essentials to keep the system fast.
Summary: Oddly enough, exactly like another recent reviewer, my drive failed almost precisely 2 months after installing it. Or more precisely, it began getting so many unrecoverable or barely recoverable read errors that my machine slowed to a crawl or hung. SMART diagnostics verify the drive is toast.
Summary: I never had a doubt in WD reliability. This small wonder operates around 185-200MBps, so not as fast as SSD but almost twice as fast as most mechanical drives. Comes attached to a heatsink adapter that converts it from a "fat" 2.5in drive to a 3.5in drive...aaaaaand you'll probably need it since, at 10,000RPM, it runs a little hot. You can get pretty insane performance if you RAID these together.
